American Idol 3-5-08 Top 8 Women Performance Show Recap Review
Tonight, Wednesday March 5, 2008 it was the Top 8 Girls chance to strut there songs and performances with the 1908’s theme songs. Hollywood was definitely “Hollyweird” this evening as the 3 American Idol Judges were in rare form. From Paula Abdul dancing, to making no sense at all, to mumbling and rambling incoherently, to Randy Jackson name dropping and Ebonics, to Simon Cowell obsessively interrupting and acting Uber Simon Like.
The American Idol Top 8 girls show opened with Asia’h Epperson singing “I Wanna Dance with
Somebody” by Whitney Houston. Paula was up from her seat dancing as Asiah was singing.
After Randy Jackson informs us he helped produce the Whitney Houston Album, he stated that ” It was a Tall order to take on, you showed you deserve to be here. That was Hot“.
Paula added, ” You Nailed it“.
Simon Cowell added, ” At best it was a second rate Whitney Houston.”
After prodding by Ryan Seacrest, the 3 judge panel agreed that Asia’h Epperson deserved a spot in the Top 12.
Second on stage was Kady Malloy singing “Who Wants to Live Forever” by Queen, the Theme Sound to the Movie “Highlander“.
Idol Judge Randy Jackson though, ” It was an interesting song choice, A Nice Queen Song, you were weak on the soft notes, but You hit the big notes. It was pretty good.”
Paula said, ” To date your best performance, the magic is on those soft notes.”
Simon added, ” I still have issue with massive lack of personality. you are Robotic, straight out of “Stepford Wives” – no emotion, you may be in trouble.”
The third to take the stage was rocker, nurse, DUI Driver Amanda Overmyer who sang the Joan Jett
song, “Hate Myself for Loving You“. It was awesome, and Amanda Overmyer may have just redeemed herself to live another week and not be voted off American Idol. Paula was seen giving Amanda a standing ovation. This is worth an I-Tune Download
Randy said, ” That is the Amamda we fell in love with. The Bluesy Rocker chick. Well done”
Paula added, “Beautiful Face, Love your hair You found your niche.”
Simon said, ” It was Fantastic, You nailed it, Perfect song for you. You are my favorite girl perfect for this competition. It was great – well done”
Up forth on the American Idol stage on 3-5-08 to perform Live was Carly Smithson. Carly sang, “I Drove All Night” by Cyndi Lauper.
Randy said, “You kept hitting all the high notes, you nailed it“.
Paula added, ” You are in your niche” – You could sing the phone book and be awesome.
Simon said, “you didn’t chose the right song, not a great song I am reminded of the Celine Dion version, and you are a million times better than that song.” But did a good job and should make the top 12.
Kristy Lee Cook took the stage fifth to sing, the Journey Classic, “Faithfully“. Randy Jackson is a big
Journey Fan, loves Steve Perry and worked with them int he past. So Randy had to take a few minutes to lets us all know that. Finally Randy said, ” This is Cool, I love Journey, You put a country twist to it, I liked it.”
Paula added, “That could be a country hit for you today, I have nothing but Positivity to say“. Yes positivity is what Paula mumbled.
Simon scoulded, ” It was good that you took the advice and we heard Country today. you problem is you are forgettable. There are much bigger voices in this competition and personalities and the best you could hope for is becoming in 10th place. ” Think Simon wants Kristy Lee Cook Voted Off American Idol?
In the sixth position was Ramiele Malubay who sang the Phil Collins, “Against All Odds” song.
Randy said, “ Another big song – good vocals, you need to find that confidence when you sing, it looked like you where thinking when you where singing, you just have to go for it – come on with it.”
Paula added, “Innocent pure voice – you deserve to be in the top 12”
Simon Cowell added, “Because you are little and cute it was good. but a bit predictable, old fashioned, I am not jumping out of my chair.”
Brooke White took the stage and sat down on the end of it to sing the Pat Benatar song ” Love is a
Battlefield” . This one also was awesome, and worth an I-Tune Download
Randy Said, “I really Liked it”
Paula Said, “Very wise choice, I loved it, it was very pure”
Simon said, “It worked because you didn’t use the band, you made it it your own, two weeks in a row fantastic performance.”
With time running out on the 1 hour show Syesha Marcado came up last to sing the Whitney Houston song, “Saving All My Love For You“.
With time running out:
Randy Said, ” Good – Good”
Paula Mumbled, “skj^(8gfrp”
Simon said, “Predictable but good”
The bottom two should be Kristy Lee Cook and Kady Malloy. Tune in tomorrow night Thursday, March 6, 2008 ( 3-6-08) to see who is voted off American Idol.
