The guys are singing songs from the 1980s tonight. Stay tuned and keep refreshing the page as we will keep updating the highlights as they happen!
Final thoughts: I think I change my mind about Jason Castro. That was a pretty tough song, and I commend him for picking it. And, it was pretty good. The best of the night were David Cook, David Archuleta, Jason Castro, and Chikezie. The worst was Luke Menard, with Danny coming in not too far behind (but I don’t care what he sings either because I just adore everything he does.).
8:55 p.m.: Chikezie is last but not least. He sings “All the Woman I Need” by Luther Vandross. He got mixed reviews from the judges, but they think he definitely deserves a spot in the top 12.
8:45 p.m.: Jason Castro is next. He sings one of my favorite songs of all time, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. And while it did sound a bit like the Jeff Buckley version, it didn’t seem like anything to write home about. However, the judges gave him props and thought it was brilliant. Even Simon!
8:40 p.m.: David Cook is sixth. He sings “Hello” by Lionel Richie (the rock version!). The judges thought it was brilliant. Even Simon said it was a brave thing to do, and he loved it! Finally, a decent performance that all the judges loved!
8:35 p.m.: Michael Johns is next. He sings “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds. I don’t think they even listened to his performance, which wasn’t great, but I think he can do whatever he wants because he has that sexy accent and he’s hot. The judges said he did pretty well.
8:25 p.m.: David Hernandez is up fourth. He sure has been popular in the news today for those gay stripper photos! He sings “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” by Meatloaf. They should let me judge instead, because I thought it was awful. It probably would have been better if he broke out his strip routine! Simon thinks he’s secured himself a spot in the Final 12.
8:20 p.m.: Potty mouth Danny Noriega is third. He sings “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell. Paula said he needed to take the purple streaks out of her hair. Simon hated everything about it, said it was ‘useless’.
8:10 p.m.: David Archuleta is next. He got ‘outed’ by Ryan for being thirsty and having to pee. He plays the piano and sings “Another Day in Paradise” by Phil Collins. The judges thought it wasn’t his best performance, and he needs to break out his ‘fun side.’ Aww, he’s just so adorable! He mentioned something about singing the song for homeless people, and I just wanted to pinch his head off and hang it from my rear-view mirror!
8:00 p.m.: Luke Menard is first. He admits to cross-dressing as a child. Don’t they all this season! He sings “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham!. Simon said what I was thinking, that he’ll probably be out before the Top 12 results.
