Checking the Pulse of American Idol - News Blurbs around the Idol Scene
American Idol never ceases to bring entertainment in a wide variety of forms.
On Alaina Whitaker’s Emotional Idol Exit
After having a night to reflect on her experience, Alaina Whitaker expressed a brand new outlook to reporters. Witaker said, “Last night, I had so many emotions, you know. I had so many thoughts going on, so now like the next day, I can really look at it, and it’s like I can take so much away from this, you know, because how many people get to say they were the top ten girls in America. So, it’s like a blessing, and you know, like last night I was just so emotional, because it was just kind of surprising, but it’s better now.”

Did I-Tunes Spill the beans of the Voting Results?
Here is an interesting observation, have to check this week if it holds up, or was a one week fluke:
This is really interesting. Since the Top 24 Idols were revealed, American Idol has over-promoted its new deal with iTunes to be sure everyone in the world knows how to get these performances for themselves. But on Wednesday, before the Thursday elimination results were revealed, the Idol page on the iTunes Store was mysteriously missing two singers: Robbie Carrico and Jason Yeager.

Ruben Studdard Returns to Idol with New Exit Music
American Idol season two winner Ruben Studdard is returning to his old stomping grounds. He’s coming back to television’s most watched show to perform the exit music for eliminated contestants. The ‘Sorry 2004′ crooner will be performing a cover of Kenny Loggins’ ‘Celebrate Me Home,’ which will be the swan song for contestants as they depart the Idol top 12.

Idol Gives Back - Names Star Studded Event Partial Guest List
The most exciting part of the night was when Ryan Seacrest made a few announcements about upcoming shows. April 9th will be this year’s Idol Gives Back episode. Seacrest let it out of the bag that quite a few headliners will be participating in this show. We’ll get to see Brad Pitt (which probably means Angelina too), Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Mariah Carey, Snoop Dog, and Reese Witherspoon.

Emotions Overwhelm Departing Idol
On a night with more emotion than the final hour of the Jerry Lewis Telethon, Alaina fell apart, sobbing to Ryan, “I can’t sing (the customary farewell number).” Wisely, Ryan gave her a chance to compose herself, chatting up the judges to kill time. With the rest of the girls rallying around her, Alaina pulled it together and reprised Hopelessly Devoted To You, the song that didn’t do it for her Wednesday.

It Does Come Down to Song Choice and Timing
Something Yeager said that impressed me was how he was trying to find “the song” to break out his guitar skills. I liked that he didn’t just pick any song to show off with… or every song (which gets old too). He was strategically planning what he was going to do.
A good lesson learned here though is — you can’t wait. Every week should be treated as if it’s your last.
