Why David Archuleta Will Not Win American Idol Season 7
Shocking headline, but you heard it here first. David Archuleta the former Junior Star Search Winner, and current proverbial front runner, lead dog in the Season 7 American Idol race will not be the eventual winner.
Yes David Archuleta is young, cute, talented, has the “Aw Geeze” or “Aw Shucks” factor with a legion of teenage girls following his every note. However, this sort of early upstart front-runner fan base will not lead David to the Idol Crown. At this point I do think David Archuleta Deserves to Win, but here is why he won’t:
Factors For David Archuletta not to win Idol 7.
1) People will grow weary of the Week after Week pimping of a one horse show that is David Archuleta. If the next 2 months of Idol is all about David Archuleta, a resistance will grow. That “Aw Shucks” naivety well will run dry. His fan base will lose it’s muster to continue to vote for him. In a final two face off, the underdog just might get their bone and the Idol Title.
2) Season Shocker. David Archuletta might leave Idol somewhere in the Chris Daughtry Spot (4 th) for the shocker of the season. American Idol has constantly provided a shocking moment every season. What would be more controversial or shocking than an early Archuleta exit.
3) America is a country that roots for the underdog. The come from behind spirit. If David continues to roll week after week with heavy praise from the Idol Judges and media alike, his number 1 status going into the finals will breed a huge disconnect. Americans will vote for the underdog. Let’s just say, David A is the New England Patriots, but one Idol will be the “Giants” Killer.
4) The Rise of Another Idol Contender. Most winners of past American Idol Seasons, have come on strong towards the end of the season. They have a slow steady momentum and peak around the top 8 or top 6. This new Idol contender will have several WOW amazing moments that will lead them to the final crown.
5) History. The best idol doesn’t always win. Nor the most popular in the eyes of the judges. Remember last years Melinda Doolittle? I made a post about why she would NOT win last year and she was gone. Remember Chris Daughtry, two years ago, I scooped and inside story about a connection with the Band Fuel months ahead of time and agents/ managers wanting to break away from the American Idol contractual agreements. We saw Chris Daughtry Go way in the 4th spot of Season 5. Do we need to mention Clay -Reuben or Kelly - Justin?
6) Personality - Confidence - Appeal - X-factors - Idol Producers.
David is the youngest of the contestants, will Idol Producers and Contracts stake their money on a minor? David has shown a maturity when he sings, and confidence when he is on stage, however his off stage presence and demeanor still shows a lack of confidence and immaturity. Is he ready for the Big Lights Big City tours? Will the fact that he won Junior Star Search at age 12 be a hindrance? Will over-hype by the Idol Show cause a back lash to the popular teen? Will VotefortheWorst mentality or legions of Idol Haters cause enough voting power to see David Archuleta Fall?
There are a lot of factors that will become clear in the next two months of the American Idol show.
The question will be, can David Archuleta overcome those factors, retain his fan base, and impress the Idol producers that he is the Money Winner. Because we all know, the best doesn’t always win. Just the one that can make the most money.
Before you bring out the tar and feathers, I am a David Archuleta fan. I think he is extremely like able, has amazing talent, deserves to win American Idol if he keeps on a roll. I am just pointing out the possible factors why David Archuleta will not Win American Idol Season 7. Just remember, when that Shocking Moment arrives ( god forbid for you Archuleta Fans) that you heard it here first on Idol-Mania.com
Let the Tar and Feathering Begin with your comments. Disagree let me have it. Agree tell us why.

I agree that he has been front runner too early, but in this case, when the producers, judges and public love him, I think he will win. However, I am not so sure that singing is the right thing for him to do. He has a big problem in that he cannot sustain his breathing. He gasps in the middle of his songs, I am not sure he is not doing damage to his vocal chords or lungs
2 Anonymous // Feb 29, 2008 at 9:07 am
I disagree…I think he will still win the competition. I think Melinda got voted off b/c she didn’t receive the teen vote whereas Jordin and Blake did. David will receive the teen vote as well as the older vote b/c he is so darn good! I know his gasping thing is a bit annoying but he can’t help it b/c of the vocal cord paralysis. I hope he can get someone to help him with breathing exercises or something to make it less obvious or just hold the mic away from him when he has to take a deep breath. Whatever happens, I will buy every CD he comes out with! I’m a huge David Archuleta fan!!!

GO DAVID, GO, I LOVE YOU, AND I HOPE THE CRITIC IS WRONG, THE BEST SHOULD WIN AND SO FAR YOU ARE FLAWLESS IN MY EYES AND EARS. I BELIEVE THE JUDGES (NOT PUBLIC) SHOULD JUDGE THE LAST 5, YOU WILL BE ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!.
4 court // Feb 29, 2008 at 2:26 pm
I totally disagree with this critic. I think that David Archuleta will win and it doesn’t matter that he is getting all these votes now because he will get those votes all the way till the very last moment. He is an AMAZING singer and i know he will keep doing GREAT! I love him and i am his biggest fan!! GO DAVID ALL THE WAY! YOUR THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL!!!!!

I think you put forth a very well-reasoned position and I am inclined to agree on the whole with all of your points.
However, I also think there is one overarching (or is that overarchuleting?) issue that trumps your arguments:
No previous contestant has had the magic combination of BOTH tween appeal AND superior talent. It’s always been either one or the other. Tween devotion won’t lag. Two months of David once a week won’t be nearly enough for that crowd.
Short of discovering that David is a secret Al Qaeda operative, or that his vocal paralysis returns (God forbid), he’s on a sunny sail to Number One.
That said, I will also add that (a) anything is possible; this contest seems to always come through with most inexplicable developments, and (b) It doesn’t matter if he wins. His success is assured already.
6 JT // Feb 29, 2008 at 5:00 pm
I must agree with the critic on many points. At least 3 of the last 6 seasons, the winner was not the best singer, most charismatic, or best performer in the group. Truthfully, how many of the stars today are. When Britney Spears and Ashlee Simpson can become singers, it doesnt speak well for musical tastes these days. I do think however, that win or not, he will have a career. He is the best male singer on the show…easily.
7 melanie // Feb 29, 2008 at 5:21 pm
i 100% dissagree…i think that david will win. take Blake Lewis for an example. yeah he didn’t win, but he made all the way to the top 2 because of his female fans. just because david has a huge fan bass, does not mean he will loose. yeah, everyone said melinda would win but let’s face the facts. she’s a good singer and all but a lot of her fans are like old and adults. david’s fans are teens and they have a lot of faith and hope that david will win american idol.
oh and if you really look at the pass 2 weeks, david has done the best out of any contestant on american idol. whoever becomes american idol needs to be talented, and that’s what david is. we can’t have another sanjaya win american idol or the reputation of american idol will be ruined.agree or disagree with me, but i am a devoted David Archuleta fan forever and i will vote for him the whole 2 hours every week because david deserves to win.
oh and just because he is little does not mean he can’t win. Jordin Sparks was 17 when she won american idol and she did good on the tour. that is just complete ageism…DO NOT SAY David Archuleta WILL NOT WIN BECAUSE HE IS LITTLE..AGE DOES NOT MATTER IN WINNING AMERICAN IDOL
8 Jebbica // Feb 29, 2008 at 5:48 pm
I have a bad feeling about him, too. I mean, yeah, he’s by far the best singer on there. But in the end, who is more marketable: someone like him, or someone like Michael Johns? I kinda wish they’d let David be the long lost Jonas Brother and that would be that.
9 nathan // Feb 29, 2008 at 8:12 pm
The most talented usually never goes on to win idol. The judges generally look for the same type of people(reuben studdard, fantasia) and push for them. Archuleta is the best singer on the show this season, far as I can tell, but his ability will hurt him in the long run, i.e. some of the reasons you name, and the fact that there are more marketable singers.
10 idolfan // Mar 1, 2008 at 12:17 am
Even if David doesn’t win he will be on Disney or Nick at night star. I have no worries, we will see him again.
David still has my vote each week.
11 Archuleta Fan // Mar 1, 2008 at 4:52 am
I will comment on “The best idol doesn’t always win” If that is the case then something is messed up! Why is it called American Idol if they are going to hand if off to someone that isn’t? David has far more to offer then just a great performance, he loves his fans and puts 100% in every performance which I think that is very noticeable when you leave everyone in tears. Now that is far more marketable then anything that we have today. I just hope the judges see the Religious multi-talent in that kid that will be around for ages and not just another Spears in rehab that isn’t doing much for the music industry. I guess that is the true definition of marketable these days.
David will continue to have my vote and I hope everyone else too. Keep it up David !!! America Loves you!!!!
12 Pete // Mar 1, 2008 at 9:15 am
I think davis is a remarkable singer. He still has room to grow and better himself. He has a lot going for him not jus the singing. I agree with the critic that these things don’t garentee him a win. He needs to do something differnt than he has done before to capture a wider fan base. I will keep voting for him because I like him and his music.
13 mikearmand // Mar 1, 2008 at 12:46 pm
In short, He won’t win because he’s perfect (yup, I have to agree on this)
14 Chris // Mar 1, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Of course there are no sure things in this world, but I think he will have to really screw up to lose. Anything that has happened in the past is moot because David Archleta is unprecedented. And despite his huge tweener fanbase I have a lot of anecdotal evidence that his fan base is much wider than that.
15 Hayley // Mar 1, 2008 at 2:18 pm
You make a few good points. True, he has had an amazing performance early on in the season, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be able to whip out another one when it’s really needed. While he has yet to have a really off performance, that doesn’t mean that he’s gonna be perfect or great every week. He’s human, he’s bound to make mistakes. But I think fanbase is already large enough to carry him through the ups and downs of the show. The difference between him and Melinda is that he appeals to the younger crowd so much more that she did. That’s pretty much the reason why Blake and Jordin were the final two despite Melinda being the best and most consistent singer. As others have said, the tween vote won’t die. If it can carry someone like Sanjaya to the top 7, it can carry someone like David who’s about 75 times more talented and likeable than Sanjaya was. He could go off in Chris Daughtry sort of way, but I hope America would have learned their lesson from that departure. Also Chris was on a season where I think they were quite a few talented and/or likeable contestants in that season. Chris had some decent competion. There was Taylor, who was the most entertaining, had a huge fanbase, and didn’t get showered with compliments or bashed every week. There was Katharine, who was beautiful and talented and probably stole some of Chris’ thunder with the younger crowd. And then there was Elliott, the underdog who was fantastic singer, humble, genuine, and just someone who you wanted to see do well. Lastly, I personally don’t see how the Idol producers couldn’t love this kid. You could be right about him not winning, but I really hope your’e wrong. Then again, you may be helping him out with this. I hate seeing people so sure about the winner so early on. It only hurts that contestant.

Reasons David will win:
1. I don’t understand the complaints about judges pimping David all the time. It’s been 2 weeks! There are a lot more left. However, if he is the best, he is the best. That’s not pimping. How often do Randy, Paula and Simon all agree on a contestant? Almost never. As for “Aw Shucks”, he is a sweet, geeky 17 year old boy. Would you rather he acted all cocky and over-confident? He’ll learn to handle himself.
2. When Daughtry left, it was a shocker, but you must admit that he appealed to the younger, Rocker based fans. AI has fans of ALL ages and the contestant that appeals to the broadest base, wins. If he were voted off, there would be a lot of MAD fans. And you are speaking like it’s rigged anyway . . .?!
3. Strangely, I believe that David IS an underdog.! Your #3 contention is backwards - that is why he is so popular! He is not concerned about his image, what he is wearing, what is his style. He simply sings from his soul and his soul is pure. And people can feel that. How many other popular singers today have that quality? VERY different.
4. Another contender - could happen! Only point I agree with. But they’d have to have more than just great performances. Everyone knows it’s as much about personality and stories as it is about talent.
5. I’m glad you brought up history. Because I’ve watched since Season 3 and I’ve never seen fans screaming for a contestant like they did last Tuesday. Did you see David’s C’s face when Ryan announced David A was singing next and all the cheering erupted? What a blow that must have been. So I’m not sure we’ve got any history to fall back on. No one has been like David.
6. You’re reaching.
Can you tell I have a picture of David ‘dangling from my rear view mirror?!”
18 Rachel // Mar 1, 2008 at 9:28 pm
ok, so no one knows for sure what will happen in the next couple of weeks or months on american idol…
but as far as i can see, david is the only one who really stands out with an amazing vocal performance. yes he is cute, and that does help alot. but the boys dont stand a chance against him. like simon said there are 19 miserable contestants and he is the one to beat. and like randy said he has one of the best vocals he has ever heard on the show. i just cant see anyone else winning because no one can sing like David!
I mean, for him not to win he would have to screw up really bad. If he does consistently amazing performances each week, i believe his fans will stick by him. He gets so much attention now because he deserves it all. No one has ever made such a big deal about anyone, because no one else had what he has. Its the second week and he is already HUGE. that tells me something.
But, im not doubting everything you said. I mean America has messed up before: Sanjaya and even worse Taylor Hicks….
I know that I will vote for David every week and i hope he will keep it up all season long because a lot of fans have high hopes for him.
19 Milly // Mar 2, 2008 at 5:28 am
I think for the first time in idol history, most of the issues you have pointed out above will be non-existent. While it is true before that the best idol doesn’t always win, this year, the best idol will win. David Archuleta will win. WHY? Because he will get the votes from all corners. He will get the votes of people who are genuinely amazed of his talent, he will get the votes of the younger population who simply vote for cuteness. He will even get the sympathy votes. He is young and fragile and already people are picking on him on his religious affiliation and his sexuality. Yes, there could always be a shocker as you said but definitely not David voted off. It will be something else…We’ll see….
20 Felisha // Mar 2, 2008 at 2:02 pm
Ok ur wrong….. in many places. 1. umm ok the record deal should go to the person ppl will listen to and like (david) old and young like him, 2. Brittney Spears won star search and shes immature… alot of famous ppl r. plz remember david is 17 hes still a teenager he has a right to be a lil imature offstage but what counts is that we no that being famous will not pull him into drugs or things like that becuz he clearly stats that in the interview with idol. also i would like to point out ppl love him and every week he comes back ready to make ppl love him again and ppl will not vote for the underdog if the ppl rlly r better.
21 David's number 1 fan // Mar 2, 2008 at 4:26 pm
I think that David can absolutely win american idol because each week his performance is extraordinary not like the other contestants that make 1 good performance out of 2. David never got a bad comment from the judges and that’s why the public will vote for him. He’s simply the best. And even if he doesn’t win, Paula said it, david’s made for superstaring. But I’m sure that he’s gonna win. He was born to sing and everyone knows that.
22 tamara // Mar 2, 2008 at 11:19 pm
I enjoy reading interesting opinions - thank you. I think it comes down to 2 variables. 1) Can David continue to give fresh, seemingly inspired preformances and 2) can he recoginize and curtail, (even if it is sincere) his redundant “thank you, thank you, oh thank you’s.” I think if he accomplish those two things he will continue to massage the audience’s imagination and may just end up the last man standing. I hope he does because personally I want to continue to “feel” the way his music makes me feel again and again.
23 sunny // Mar 2, 2008 at 11:42 pm
1). People will grow weary of the Week after Week pimping of a one horse show that is David Archuleta.
– People won’t get tired of listening to his music every week with expections. I have read comments from differnt people and some said that they would watch AI because of him although they’ve never enjoyed AI before.
2) David Archuletta might leave Idol somewhere in the Chris Daughtry Spot (4 th) for the shocker of the season.
People learned from Daughtry experience. Especially girls will vote 100 times more to make sure it won’t happen to little David.
3) America is a country that roots for the underdog.
I am usually rooting for the underdog, but previous AI winners have not been underdogs. People try to vote for the best. Especially at finals, the best vocals have won. I remember Blake couldn’t beat Jordan for her big voice, Bo Bice couldn’t beat Kerry Underwood for her consistent performance, and Justin couldn’t beat Kelly for her better voice suiting for the final song.
4) The Rise of Another Idol Contender
There is no better talent than David. We have seen every contestant’s performances so far, but inconsistencies always hurt.
5) History. The best idol doesn’t always win.
It is true when the competition is tight. But we have never seen a lopsided race favoring this talented kid. He has already shown his versatility to sing various songs. Besides, he is smart enough not to pick songs that don’t fit him(his GPA was 4.0 as sophormore).
6) Personality - Confidence - Appeal - X-factors - Idol Producers.
I think something is already going on in entertainment business that song writers were asked to compose music for him. He is a whole package appealing females and males, old and young. As to his off stage awkwardness, it is a matter of time. Now, his awkwardness is a charm that draws people to him.
Last, I just want to say that David is a delighful gem found in AI this year for judges, producers, entertainment business and just ordinary people like me, largely due to his pure talent.
His talent has been trained by Dean Kaelin, vocal teacher. It is fortunate for us that vocal paralysis prevented him from making CDs after winning Star Search. Otherwise, we would not have enjoyed AI now.
24 Alexa // Mar 3, 2008 at 7:45 am
I disgree.
David WILL win American Idol.
25 Roxanne // Mar 3, 2008 at 12:32 pm
I think that David is going to win AI because he gets the votes of almost everyone. From the youngest to the oldest he gets every vote simply because he is the best and there’s also the factor that he’s very cute and likeable and the girls won’t stop voting for him. But others will vote also for him because he’s the most talented at AI and everyone knows that. That’s why people won’t stop voting for him and his performances are also the best of the night and as Simon said, the other contestants are very miserable after each performance he makes. He always chooses a song that suits him and his vocals are amazing. The best I ever heard. That’s why people won’t stop voting for him week after week.

Ok. SOOOO here is my opinion. me having worked with david and having sung with him and all that jazz know that he is in HIGH DEMAND everywhere! Now I dont know if he will win or not. I agree with what the blogger has to say, but the producers can do what they want with the show! I mean i know for a fact that IDOL pulled for sanjya to stay in the competition for as long as he did… because i for SURE did not know ANYONE who voted for him. Now i would kinda like your opinion here… what is gonna happen to us other kids from utah that are auditioning this year… they dont want a repeat kid from utah right? IDK! but david is a really nice kid! very kind. he was also fun to be around. he lives like 10 minutes from me. But i think he deserves top three he is AMAZINGLY talented! i think him syesha ramiele and carly deserve to stay in longer. i thought malinda would win even though my vote was for jordin… I knew kelly would win even though my vote was for TAMYRA i knew carrie would win….. I didn know taylor would…. and i really dont know for sure what is gonna happen here. but i do know he has made his mark with the world and that if he got kicked off the show for any reason he doesnt need american idol. and i hope i really get my chance this year… having the opportunity to sing with david will hopefuly mean something:D o yeah and he is not gay for who ever keeps saying that…
28 George W Bush // Mar 4, 2008 at 1:50 am
You guys put George W Bush in power. Twice. And you think that the best singer will win?
Which is not by any means to concede that Archuleta is the best singer, he simply is not… let’s see again in American Idol 17!
29 Heidi // Mar 4, 2008 at 8:30 am
I disagree with the person that wrote this article (and may I add, do you have an editor? There were many mistakes–”there” instead of their, “hear” instead of here, etc…Just curious).
In regards to the comment that David was “gasping for breath”…this is not the case, as he stated in his audition that, he had an issue in the past with a problem with his vocal chords…it has affected the sound of his breathing that makes it a bit raspy, but he is not breathing incorrectly for a vocalist. I have noticed a few others commenting on other blogs about that, and he’s not doing something wrong in that regards. I think he is a natural born talent, and regardless of the outcome, I believe he will absolutely have a singing career and album contract. I still think he will be consistent. He has the “it” factor.

You are so Right! I Agree. He’s too perfect. America wants entertainment. And David Hernandez and Jason Castro showed us amazing entertainment and the vocals….well they are awesome. David Archuleta WILL win ,i just know he will! He is insanely HOT and an AMAZING singer! I am his #1 fan. I LOVE him! I wish i could meet him! I just think that he should pick a little bit happier songs. Other than that he is perfect in every single way!His looks, his voice , his wonderful personality, and anything else you can think of.
35 Ernest A. Dupont // Mar 8, 2008 at 9:42 am
David Archuleta may not be the overall winner. He has the best voice ocntrol. That I will admit. But in his recent performances, he simply does not seem to be having a ‘good time’. You would listen to him on a cassette tape, and that would do it. There’s no dance routine. Another thing is he brings too much drama where drama is not needed, like in the song IMAGINE. That was meant as a quiet peace song. You don’t have to shout it from the rafters. A good singer, but in my opinion, not an overall winner.
36 Adlemi // Mar 8, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Hello! It is so nice to hear that a lot of ppl give comments to all the American Idol Contestants. I just wish everybody is right with their own beliefs. I love to watch AI via YouTube coz, I work late and couldn’t watch it live. Regardless, I know, David A. will be very famous if he wasn’t yet. He may not win the title but I am 100% sure that he will win all the love and respects from all the funs all over the country. He is really a nice kid, never once disrespectful in anyway when he was growing up. As you can see, every time is up on the stage…he’s manners is always there to everybody to love. I do not care if he won’t win the title, to me, he is already a WINNER ! Him and Ramiel will be the best bet this year! I am just soooo happy that we have what we called… American Idol to watch and make these contestants to prove their way to stardom. More Power to all of you Season 7 Contestants!!!!! Thank you and God Bless!

38 Smiles ^^ // Mar 9, 2008 at 5:59 am
In certain aspects, I agree with the writer of this article, even though I really don’t want to. (o__o); In reality, although this is a singing competition, it’s really not all about singing. It’s also about being unique (standing out), stage presence, personality, consistency, being modern (not old-fashioned), style, and of course, looks (though it shouldn’t count as we all know).
I think he has all of that completely. We’re never really sure about what will happen in the future, but I highly doubt he’ll ever lose the support of the majority of his fans. I know for sure he won’t lose my support even if I begin liking another contestant! As a teenager, (or well I guess just from my own experience) I don’t get sick or tired of consistently good music; I’ve been addicted to some artists’ music for so long–even the same song. And lately, I’ve been so addicted to listening to David’s voice.
It’s just so pure, natural, and good~! Teenagers don’t just vote for him because he’s “cute” (even though he really is!); they vote for him because they understand he has an outstanding talent that deserves to be recognized. Also, like what other people have been saying, the shockers from last seasons… People learn from them–well hopefully. And sometimes, people just refuse to vote for the actual best singer, because they stubbornly have something against that person for whatever reason. But everyone will always have people that like them and don’t like them… Anyway, if there were to be a shocker or surprising early exit, as you put it, I doubt it would be with David (because there ARE other contestants with amazing voices this season).
That reminds me… I don’t even think there are any underdogs (well so far in the top 12), except for maybe two or three. Other than those few, everyone else definitely has an equal chance to shine and win. Yeah, it’s true so many other contestants prove their talent to be better later in the show, but can they be consistent with their performances like David and few others? … I don’t really think the Idol producers will have any problems with David, especially seeing just how popular he is. And yeah, the best idol doesn’t always win, so here’s another thing I wanted to point out: I guess overall, it really doesn’t matter at all whether or not he wins American Idol, because he will be successful in the music industry either way–anyone can tell that! But I’m voting for him and supporting him just because he wants to win this competition… just because he has this amazing, lovely voice… just because of how he performs… just because he has this strong passion and love for singing… just because of who he is. Well, this season, I was a little upset to see Danny Noriega leave;
I thought for sure Chikezie would be going home that week… I thought the competition for the guys would end up having David and Danny near the end, but I guess not anymore! … Anyway, my favorites in this season’s top 12 are of course David Archuleta, Ramiele Malubay, David Hernandez, Michael Johns, David Cook, and Brooke White… in that order. (x__x) I definitely think the guys have the edge this season. However, I think the actual contestants who will make it far are David Archuleta, Jason Castro, David Cook, Carly Smithson, and Ramiele Malubay. I’m not so sure about the popularity of the others to America. Well, I think the others highly lack the passion for singing that David Archuleta has, and I think America notices that right now. But you never know…
That passion in the other contestants might appear later… Some people say that he seems “iffy” because of his shyness and innocence and whatnot, but to me, it’s an adorable and sweet personality trait that he has. It makes him a lovable person; it’s just the way he is. Why bother looking at a person so negatively? I think all the contestants are pretty darn great in some way. With his kind of voice, I would definitely go out and buy his CDs, and I haven’t purchased an American CD in YEARS! I’ve barely listened to American music for the past year or so (I’m a huge Korean pop music fan). When I heard about American Idol Season 7 beginning, I decided to give it a chance this year (because for the past few seasons, I hadn’t been watching it… I wasn’t really “wowed” by anyone).
And I’m happy that I gave it a chance just because of David. I didn’t like the show since around season 2 (I thought Kelly Clarkson was the best) until I switched the TV onto FOX and listened to this guy sing… I’ll say it again: his voice is just so real and pure… So sweet~! Overall, your perspectives actually make sense though. Let’s just continue to support our favorites. =)

No, I don’t think so. He did mess up. this week. So what now? He’s the not perfect.
43 Sunrise Pray // Mar 12, 2008 at 10:34 pm
He’s a very good singer but he’s only good in one style of singing. I don’t think he’ll gonna win. There’s a lot of black horses on this season of AI. He looks like a gay last night when he was dancing a little while singing. Is he? Sorry, I’m just asking ‘coz I smell something fishy.
44 Phantomshark // Mar 12, 2008 at 11:39 pm
I think he might win, but I hope he doesn’t. There are several better/more exciting/more interesting singers in this competition. Michael-Amanda-David Cook-Ramiele to name 4. However, that’s good for him, because it seems like it’s always the 5th or 6th best singer who wins it. (Reuben? Fantasia? Gimme a break)
45 Monique // Mar 15, 2008 at 9:37 am
I still think that David can win!! The reason why melinda didnt win is because not many young people (teenagers, kids, etc.) voted for her. David has every age group voting for him. I think he has the largest fan base and i don’t think that they’ll stop voting for him.
HE CAN WIN =]!!!!
46 joe // Mar 15, 2008 at 2:24 pm
I didn’t see his “We Can Work it Out” till after having read all the bad reviews. When I saw it, I was surprised. I didn’t think it was bad- other than forgetting the lyrics part. It was actually pretty strong in sections - so did they orchestrate a dive? Maybe - but I hope not.
If the latest is true about David’s dad being an overbearing stage “mom”, I feel bad for David -Hopefully his shy, humble demeanour isn’t just the negative result of bad parenting. I’d like to see him rise above it all and have a real music career. He may not yet have his own style but he is able to sing a lyric with true emotions that are moving and that contradict the “musical robot” tag.
Win or not, he should get a chance at recording for real- I’d like to see what he does with that voice. I wish him all the success he can handle.

Hey you are so annoying , he def gonna win, no doubt! I wouldn’t have faith in any other contestant but him! God bless U david…Bouddha bless you too!
48 Lucy // Mar 16, 2008 at 4:27 am
I watch AI this season just because of David Archuleta. He’s like the only reason for why I’m so crazy about the show :D.
I haven’t liked any of the AI contestants so much since season 3. And I could see that many people also watch the show because they wanna see David.
So what he has most that other contestants don’t, is that the love by so many people, around the world!
And in my opinion, he’s already a winner because he has it all, the voice and the audience. What more do you expect when you’re a singer?
49 CLARISA // Mar 16, 2008 at 4:44 am
HE WILL WIN! David Archuleta WILL WIN AMERICAN IDOL THIS SEASON!
50 ASD // Mar 17, 2008 at 9:26 am
Just the one that can make the most money? Did I hear you right on that comment? Not all of the AI winners have succeeded in the money pit, with the exception of Clarkson and Underwood. Remember Aiken? Not the winner, but still raking in the cash. Daughtry? Not the winner and outsold Hicks, Sparks, .. tsk tsk.
51 hailey // Mar 19, 2008 at 8:42 am
i think you should be a lot careful of your choice of words. first of all, you entitled this “why David Archuleta WILL not win a.i. season7″, whereas you’re not so sure if he really isn’t going to win, and as your just letting us read your observations.and may i note the fact that your obsrevations does not make THAT MUCH of an effect to the chances of a person winning something as huge as american idol. i beg you not to rub it in our faces that your articles on previous non-winners of a.i. (particulatrly the one abot Chris Daughtry)became true. all of this may be a huge coincidence, or, if possible, you are actually a part of the show or is influential to it.
if you chose your words better too, you wouldn’t've appeared as someone who holds a grudge to David Archuleta, which was somewhat a hundred percent possible, until you gave that part about you being a David A. fan.
i was already fuming while just halfway through the article, but, told myself, that people have different views on different things.
it’s just that i SERIOUSLY think you should be careful of your word-choices from now on, as you may hurt other people’s feelings, and views.
by the way..i’m doing this, not just beacause i’m a huge david a. fan, and that i think he really COULD win this thing, but also because i had experience on the matter as not choosing my words well… and trust me…it was horrible.
thanks anyway..learned something new from reading this article..
that people have diif views on diff things and topics…

I am not so sure about this blog. ‘Cause you don’t even know if he’s gonna win or not. I’m also a David A. fan, and all your reasons might be a mistake. A.I. is also a popularity competition, and alot of people likes him. And he really has an amazing voice… So, your blogs may also hurt other people. (Especially if they’re a fan of that person your writing about) I only read this because I clicked on something I don’t know, and then this page opened… And I can’t stop myself from reading it, because as I told you I’m a big fan of David A. So don’t blame me for reading this blog. Oh yeah, and your not a future teller. So even if you wrote a blog about Chris Daughtry and the others about not winning A.I., it might be all a coincidence.

This is the most dumb, most ridiculous thing I’ve heard!
He has TONS, wait not TONS, but MILLIONS of fans out there, how could he not win? He’s age doesnt have anything to do with his singin, he’s cute, he’s got a great voice, great personality, he could juz be reli shy sometimes, u cant reli blame him for being shy, cant u? He’s juz like that.
I mean, ur sayin we would give up on him? That is like impossible! None of us will ever do it!
And for your information, votefortheworst.com doesnt have more voters than Archuleta fans, see what happened to Danny and Amanda?
55 pepsigirl // Mar 26, 2008 at 12:25 pm
I don’t think David will be voted off. I feel that he will be in the top 2. My guess will be David and David Cook battling it out. You are right that someone will start to come on strong and David Cook has done just that. BUT if there is going to be a shocker…I think that it will be CARLY being the one to go as early as tonight. She already had a record deal and it was a flop. Why would Idol take a chance on her when she already proved herself and didn’t make it? I am of the “older generation” and I would buy both David A and a David C cd. I like them both…..so don’t count David Archuleta out just yet!
56 AALIGH // Mar 27, 2008 at 4:33 am
David hasnt made right song choice for a 2 times if it keeps happening again again he ha s no hope David Cook is the best
57 lori // Mar 27, 2008 at 12:15 pm
David should not win.He is not the best nor the most talented. He simply has a nice voice and hes kinda cute.He needs to grow and mature a bit.Clearly, the most talented and most personable contestant is Brooke. She has more talent in her little finger than the rest combined. Some can sing, but lack the presence that seems to come naturally for Ms.White.If this contest is truly based on talent, she is the clear winner. With that said, why is there not flaming outrage that Ramiele is still around? She can’t sing and seems smug at best.GET RID OF HER.By the way, I am not a tween.I’m in my mid 30’s and a faithful Idol viewer. And the critic is right. Chris Daughtry should have won!

Whoever wrote the article about how David isn’t going to win is full of CRAP!!!!!! He is amazing and we love him! He’s cute, sweet, and an awesome singer! How could he not win? If he’s not going to win then how come he won star search when he was young? You might say he’s gotten worse well…….you’re completly wrong he’s gotten better. BOO YAH!!!

1. He’s talented
2. He’s cute
3. Great Personality
4. The people that most watch the show are 6-17 year old girls, and way more than half of that votes for David Archuleta
62 Fan of David // Apr 9, 2008 at 1:11 pm
I think he has a shot at winning nonetheless. I could be wrong but most likely I am right. He has the young vote and I am in my 30’s voting for him as well. When you look back at his talent and exposure from the past how can you not see him being the winner. He will have a longer career to bank and grow from than anyone else in the competition. He is likable, pure, talented and just sings from his heart. He’s got the whole package. I’ve got my fingers crossed and my prayers are with him.

I disagree. I believe that David should and will win. But, if he doesn’t, he’ll still be huge. You mentioned Daughtry in your article. Daughtry sold more albums then anyone else that year, even though he got out 4th. He got to make the type of album he really wanted to make, not some silly pop AI album that they would have made him sing. And that made him bigger then anyone else, even though he was the best in my personal opinion.

David Cook is the best American Idol and Deserves to Win!!
69 Kaehly // Apr 20, 2008 at 3:00 pm
In some ways, I agree with this. I am also a David Archuleta fan all the way, but if you ask me, he can win only if people keep voting cause people are thinking “Oh we dont’ need to vote for him cause people already are.” But we do need your votes cause he’s losing votes and that’s partly the reason why he doesn’t have a complete chance of winning. Also, yeah I agree that maybe in the past, the idols that won, weren’t the best out of the bunch, but some people have characteristics better than other people, but David has probably the most positive characteristics out of everyone this year. I mean he’s young which is not a problem because being young is more appealing , he’s good looking, and he can actually sing (BTW yeah his breathing doesn’t really matter because he had vocal paralysis, and in the recordings, you can just edit it, do you here heavy breathing alot in the studio version songs he sings?), and also he has the personality of an Idol {smart, humble, etc} but yes i do partly agree with these critics or whatever you want to call them, but if you are “DEVOTED David Archuleta FAN” LOL, THEN we can change this by just voting cause i think next year i won’t be able to watch American Idol because he’s not there LOL. So please guys just vote.
70 Fiona // Apr 22, 2008 at 2:26 am
oh no, he should win.
but with his high popularity, i’m sure that even that he did not win, there’ll be a lot of company waving their hands to him.
71 Donna // Apr 24, 2008 at 4:40 pm
David Archuleta is a good singer but he puts you to sleep since all the songs sound alike. There is absoluely no originality about him.

” I think that David is going to win AI because he gets the votes of almost everyone. From the youngest to the oldest he gets every vote simply because he is the best ”
Ummm, not true. I am in the “older” group and although i like David A, i am really becoming bored with his singing. He sounds the same every week. I personally think that David Cook is the best all around talented person on the show and i look forward to hearing him sing every week and will definately buy his music wether or not he wins at idol. He is already a winner in my book.
74 Rosalie // May 7, 2008 at 6:49 pm
hey I totally disagree. david is amazing and you have no right to diss on him because he’s STILL IN THERE!! if I’m wrong, I’m wrong. whatever. but david is amazing, and if he doesn’t win, it’ll be David Cook. they both rule.
75 rachel // May 15, 2008 at 2:27 am
I think David Cook’s the one who’s overrated. He’s the one who’s less versatile; he can only sing rock! His performances are getting predictable and boring. He relies mostly on the band, and he’s just lucky that the arrangements of his songs are always good. But if they were both to sing a capella, David A. will surely do better. American Idol is about being the best singer, and David A. is definitely the BEST singer.
76 MikeTV // May 20, 2008 at 11:40 pm
hrmm… look who’s winning! haha…
Appearently, the author of this article needs a better fortune teller, a non-bias opinion, and/or a less stereotypical judgment of character.
‘Cause judging on overall performance thus far (especially tonight), by tomorrow the results WILL be in David A’s favor. He may just be a kid, but he’s a very gifted one.

In my opinion, even though he didn’t win, he made it to the runner up spot, and I’ve also heard more about him than David Cook so far. But that is just my opinion. This kid is a good kid, there should be more humble people that set examples like him.
