American Idol Facts, Rumors and Innuendo for February 08

Besides four more casualties in the American Idol contest seeing Robbie Carrico, Jason Yeager, Alexandrea Lushington and Alaina Whitaker being voted off on 2-28-08 there are some more stories.

Idol Rumor: Since the point is now moot, not much to say about the Robbie Carrico is wearing a wig factor. TMZ reported that the head locks of Robbie Carrico the former Boy bander attempting to become a Rocker on American Idol is wearing a wig. As I said moot point since Robbie Carrico was voted off American Idol on February 28, 2008. If he would have stayed we could have made some WIG suggestions, like the old French Braided wigs, or the Colonial American Wig Hats or the Old English parliament wigs as viable options.

Idol Fact: Idol Gives Back is on again this year on April 9, 2008

After raising an astounding $75 million last season, AMERICAN IDOL will once again host IDOL GIVES BACK, a music celebration raising awareness and benefiting various U.S. and international charities.

The two-hour concert and fundraiser will air Wednesday, April 9 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

In 2007, IDOL GIVES BACK raised $75 million for various U.S. charities that deliver support to underprivileged children in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the country, providing them with medical care, food and grocery products, health and life skills, literacy programs and obesity prevention, among other important initiatives. In Africa, funds were dedicated to organizations that support efforts to battle poverty through various health and education programs, including delivering medical supplies and providing clean water.

The brainchild of Simon Fuller, last season’s IDOL GIVES BACK special featured performances from the AMERICAN IDOL stage, where Ryan Seacrest hosted alongside AMERICAN IDOL judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. The special was also broadcast from the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles where Ellen DeGeneres served as host.

The night featured performances and appearances by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars and culminated with Bono and Dave Stewart’s specially commissioned song “American Prayer,” performed by the Top 6 finalists.

Besides the charity event, no one was voted off the week of Idol Gives Back last year.

Idol Fact: Beetlemania is finally coming to American Idol. For the past 7 years producers of American Idol have been attempting to ascertaint he rights to use Beetle songs for the Idol Show.

“It’s something we’ve waited for for seven seasons now,” Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told Seacrest. “Sony has agreed to release the Lennon and McCartney songbook to us.”

Idol Innuendo: Votefortheworst is reporting that contestant David Hernandez was a former “Stripper” at Dick’s Cabaret and worked at a Gay night club called The Burn in Phoenix, Arizona.

“Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course“. I personally loved David Hernandez’s “Papa was a Rolling Stone” this week.

Idol Fact: TMZ is also reporting Rocker Nurse Amanda Overmyer was Busted for DUI back in October 2006.

A.I.” finalist Amanda Overmyer pleaded guilty to DUI back in October 2006 near her hometown of Mulberry, In.

She received a suspended sentence of 60 days and was placed on 180 days probation, which ended in August 2007.

According to the National Enquirer, on the night of her arrest Overmyer had a blood alcohol level of 0.108 and spent six hours in the Montgomery County Jail before her fiancé posted her bail.
