Carly SmithsonThe girls are also singing songs from the 1970s tonight ( 2-27-08 ).

8:00 p.m.: Carly Smithson is up first. She sings “Crazy on You” by Heart. The judges thought she didn’t pick the right song, but she is definitely the female vocalist to beat.

Syesha Mercado8:12 p.m.: Syesha Mercado is next. She sings “Me and Mrs. Mr. Jones” by Billy Paul. The judges said it was just okay, and Simon was put off by it since the song wasn’t written for a girl.Brooke White

8:20 p.m.: Brooke White performs third. She sings “You’re So Vain” by Carly Simon. Randy and Paula thought it was was the perfect song choice for her, and Simon absolutely loved it.

Ramiele Malubay8:25 p.m.: Ramiele Malubay is the fourth girl up tonight. She sings “Don’t Leave Me This Way” by Thelma Houston. The judges thought it was not a great song choice for her and lacked magic. Simon thought it sounded like something that would be played at a “ghastly wedding.”Kristy Lee Cook

8:40 p.m.: Kristy Lee Cook is up next. She sings “You’re No Good” by Linda Ronstadt. The judges thought it was a good song choice for her, and Simon thinks she has “potential.”

Amanda Overmyer8:50 p.m.: Amanda Overmyer is the sixth girl up to the stage. She sings “Carry on My Wayward Son” by Kansas. The judges thought it wasn’t the right song choice for her, and Simon thought it was all contrived, including her outfit. Overall, they hated it, and she was trying too hard.Alaina Whitaker

8:55 p.m.: Alaina Whitaker is up next. She sings “Hopelessly Devoted To You” by Olivia Newton-John. The judges thought she chose the wrong song, and she needed to “sort herself out to become relevant.”

Alexandrea Lushington9:05 p.m.: Alexandrea Lushington is the eighth lady of the night. She sings “If You Leave Me Now” by Chicago. The judges thought it was too safe. Apparently the judges are hating all of the song choices ofKady Malloy the night, with few exceptions.

9:15 p.m.: Kady Malloy sings ninth. She sings “Magic Man” by Heart. The judges were not happy with this performance, either. It looks like the girls aren’t doing anything to blow away the judges tonight!

Asaih Epperson9:20 p.m.: The lovely Asia’h Epperson is last but not least. She sings “All By Myself” by Eric Carmen. The judges thought she wasn’t good enough to pull off the song. Simon thought the song was too big for her.

Overall, the girls had a lackluster night, and the judges failed to have another “head-squeezing” moment like they did with last night’s David Archuleta. So, who will be voted off tomorrow?
