American Idol Season 7 Hollywood Week Day One
All 164 American Idol Season 7 Golden Ticket Holders from the 7 Idol Audition sites showed up with their aspirations, dreams and some musical instruments in hand. They would soon find out that some of the rules had changed from prior seasons on American Idol.
This year a double elimination was set in place. All 164 Idol Contestants would perform in front of Judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell. If they impressed the judges and received the coveted 3 yes votes they would get a free pass to Day 4 of the Hollywood week competition. If they didn’t get the 3 yes pass they would get one more chance to sing and impress the judges on Day 3. A no at that point would mean the end of their Season 7 Idol hopes.
About 80 Golden ticket winners got the chance to perform on Day One hoping for that free pass and a chance at the Idol Top 50 and Top 24 for Season 7.
On Day One of American Idol Season 7 Hollywood Week Brooke White from the Philadelphia Auditions was the first to face the judges. In this years competition instruments were allowed, so Brooke White decided to sing and play the piano. With her song “Beautiful” she impressed the judges and received the bye to the Day Four round. Brooke White is listed in the Top 24 Spoilers List.
Many other performers were not as lucky. A list of name, and faces, some familiar from the auditions and some who the hell is that moments didn’t muster the goods for the judges. From Lorean Pinot, Amy Flynn, Leo Marlowe, Alisha Dixon, Michael Sanfilippo, Aylssa Coco, Andrew Barrows, to Jake Mellens all got rejected by the Idol Judges. Because this was not an elimination round they would get one more chance.
David Hernandez was the next Idol performer to sing that received the praise from the Judges and most importantly the pass to the Day Four Hollywood Week round. David Hernandez was the highlight of of the Day One Hollywood Week performance with his song performance. A true talent who should make it through to the Top 24. David Hernandez is listed in the Top 24 Spoilers list.
Amanda Overmyer the motorcycle nurse rocker chick with the Janis Joplin style voice sang “The Doors” - “Light My Fire” to the adulation of the contestants in the audience and the 3 Idol Judges of Randy, Simon and Paula.
Day One Hollywood Week ended with Galeb Emachen of the Miami Auditions who lookes much like actor Antonio Bandarez. Galeb the Latin Lover, didn’t have much spark on the large audition stage, but plenty of macho moves with the female contestant in the halls. Galeb Emachen got the no votes, even from Paula Abdul and was headed for the double elimination round on Day 3 of American Idol Hollywood week.
The other 80 plus contestants would would temp their luck and skills on Day Two of Hollywood Week.
