Staying Alive will be tough as Disco Downs the American Idols on May 8, 2007

The American Idol Barry Gibb Week or Disco Week manhandled the Idols. TheBarry Gibbs on American Idol performaces of the Final Four were less than stellar.

Melinda Doolittle sang “Love You Inside And Out.” Randy Jackson said “That was another solid performance, I mean I don’t know if I was jumping up and down.” Paula Abdul said “It’s hard to critique you Melinda, because your vocals are always spot on.” Simon Cowell said “Four people left ok, I expect incredible tonight, that was not incredible.”

For his first song, Blake Lewis sang “You Should Be Dancing.” Randy Jackson said “Sometimes when you do the beatboxing it works, tonight for me dawg, it really didn’t work.” Paul Abdul said “You didn’t have the best night with that song, but you did show why you’re unique and why you’re on that stage.” Simon Cowell said “I thought it wasAmerican Idol Voted Off absolutely terrible that performance.”

For her first song, Lakisha Jones sang “Staying Alive.” Randy Jackson said “Lakisha, that was weird for me.” Paula Abdul said “Taking the tempo down, took everyone ready to be dancing, and it kind of brought the mood down a little bit.” Simon Cowell said “Well, Lakisha, no kiss tonight, baby.”

For her first song, Jordin Sparks sang “To Love Somebody.” Randy Jackson said “That’s probably the best vocal so far.” Paul Abdul said “It’s not sort of, kind of the best vocal, it is the best vocal so far tonight.” Simon Cowell said “Best song choice, best performance so far, we’re back in the competition.”

For her second song, Melinda Doolittle sang “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.” Randy Jackson said “Yo, you are our resident pro still.” Paula Abdul said “No doubt it, a beautiful vocal.” Simon Cowell said “I think the second half of that song had put you into the semi-finals.”

For his second song, Blake Lewis sang “This Is Where I Came In.” Randy Jackson said “I do think this was definitely better than the last one, I’m still not jumping up and down.” Paul Abdul said “Blake, you are the contemporary rebel in this competition.” Simon Cowell said “I don’t know what that song was. I found it completely tuneless.”

For her second song, Lakisha Jones sang “Run To Me.” Randy Jackson said “I know you got a little hoarse at the end, but it was much better than the first song that you did tonight.” Paula Abdul said “You’re still a champ.” Simon Cowell said “It was better than the first song. It still wasn’t great.”

For her second song, Jordin Sparks sang “Woman In Love.” Randy Jackson said “I don’t think it was your best performance, it was pitchy all the way through.” Paula Abdul said “It was not…you know, my dear.” Simon Cowell said “I thought it was old fashion and actually very pageanty.”

So who will be voted off American Idol on 5-9-07? It could be anybodies ball game, but Blake and Laskisha didn’t do themselves any favors with their performances.
