Martina McBride coached the remaining 7 potential American Idols. I won’t go into big details, but I will list what they sang and what the judges said.

Phil Stacey sang “Where The Blacktop Ends.”

Randy Jackson said “Dude, you could have a career in country music.”

Paula Abdul said “It does seem like the genre that you feel most comfortable in.”

Simon Cowell said “This is the only time I’ve heard you in a long, long time where I thought you chose a good song.”

Jordin Sparks sang “Broken Wing.”

Randy Jackson said “Another great performance.”

Paula Abdul said “I think you did a fantastic job.”

Simon Cowell said “This is the first time since we have met where I actually believe based on that performance you could win American Idol.”

Sanjaya Malakar sang “Let’s Give Them Something To Talk About.”

Randy Jackson said “That was really just like karaoke, dude.”

Paula Abdul said “Well, we’re watching someone who loves adversity. You thrive on it don’t you.”

Simon Cowell said “Utterly horrendous. I’m being serious. Honestly, it was as bad as anything we see at the beginning of American Idol.”

Lakisha Jones sang “Jesus Take The Wheel.”

Randy Jackson said “For me, this had some pitch problems in the beginning, it wasn’t my favorite vocal of yours.”

Paula Abdul said “It sounded a little bit like you were shouting.”

Simon Cowell said “You know, it’s like eating a hamburger for breakfast, it doesn’t go together, and I don’t think you and that song went well together at all.”

Chris Richardson sang “Mayberry.”

Randy Jackson said “I just didn’t feel any sense of connection, any emotion from you.”

Paula Abdul said “The joy and the love that you have on stage didn’t come through.”

Simon Cowell said “What I heard was a very nondescript, nasally vocal which had no impact on me at all.”

Melinda Doolittle sang “Trouble Is A Woman.”

Randy Jackson said “Another solid performance from our resident pro, Miss Melinda Doolittle.”

Paula Abdul said “Once again, a girl who knows how to pick the right song, and sing her heart out, and perform like there’s no tomorrow.”

Simon Cowell said “It was fantastic.”

Blake Lewis sang “When The Stars Go Blue.”

Randy Jackson said “That was nice.”

Paula Abdul said “You have the whole package.”

Simon Cowell just thought it was o.k. or average.

Lakisha Jones, Sanjaya Malakar, and Chris Richardson received mostly bad comments and opinions from the judges. While I would love to say that the Judges opinion count for something and the poor performances would end the worst of the bunch - who knows? Tune in tomorrow and find out who was voted off of American Idol on 4-18-07

    I really didn’t enjoy Sanjaya’s performance tonight… but I’m not a huge country fan and didn’t like anyone’s really.

My wife is - she said she really enjoyed Chris’s performance. *I think she just liked the song :)

Unfortunately, I think at this point Sanjaya is trying to boot himself from American Idol. I really had high expectations for him this week, because his Latin Night performance was strong and I saw a gradual progression in him. I’ll chalk it up to the genre, even the might Lakisha faltered.

I think (i’m pretty sure) my notes are in order. If they are he is 1-866-IDOLS-05, since he was the 5th to perform according to the notes I have here.

I can’t promise though. My wife watched a lot of the show for me tonight and took the notes. (I did say I can’t stand country)…

My favorites were Melinda, Jordin and Blake. We also liked Lakisha and thought they were hard on their evaluation of her.
Jordin was phenomenal for a 17 year old , she has a promising career in singing
and is a favorite in our household.
I think it will be between the 3 mentioned above.

Sanjaya isn’t good never was good and never will be good.He should leave before he makes a bigger fool of himself which is not going to happen because he is already the BIGGEST fool onT.V.
