American Idol is down to 9 contestants and will perform on next Tuesday April 3, 2007 (4-3-07).

The celebrity guest will be Tony Bennett and the American Idol theme will be songs from ““American Classics”.

The voting will take place on 4-3-07 and the results show to find out who will be voted of will be on Wednesday April 4 (4-4-07).

The Results show will increase from  30 minutes to one hour on the following dates: Wednesday, April 11 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed); Wednesday, April 18 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed); and Wednesday, May 2 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Upcoming mentors include Gwen Stefani, Tony Bennett, Jennifer Lopez, Martina McBride, Bon Jovi and Barry Gibb.

For the 4-3-07 American Idol Performance show:

The burning questions will be:
What song will Sanjaya Malakar ruin this week?
What funky Hair style will Sanjaya sport.
Will there be enough votes for the other 8 Idols to vote off Sanjaya?
Will Simon be upset enough to sway votes?

Each Season on American Idol has brought controversy, but none as much as this season and Sanjaya-GATE. The backing of Sanjaya and voting for Sanjaya based upon his lack of talent rather than his ability to be the best.

I stated prior, I would like Sanjaya to come out in Spandex, working his Hula Hoop and talking a song. That would be the utlimate F U to Idol and still see him voted through so that a change in thee process could take place. The American Idiot Sanjaya!

American Idol is a singing competition but also a search for new recording artist. The producers and record contracts to people who will be supported by the general public in record sales and concert ticket promotion. The push for Sanjaya is all about voting for the worst contestant. The millions of votes Sanjaya receives are enough to keep him in the contest but will not translate into any record sales or concert performances.

Keeping Sanjaya in the American Idol competition is hurting the entire franchise. How many people will not support the Idol summer tour because of Sanjaya’s inclusion. What Record Company will back a Sanjaya Album / CD? If a Sanjaya Record is produced it will fall flat on its face or only be known as a one hit wonder joke Ala William Hung.

This Millie-Vanilli contestant Sanjaya Malakar and the Anti-Idol supporters are a torn in the side of the Idol Franchise. Will it pass, is American Idol hurt by all this?

Regardless of the outcome of the 4-4-07 voted off American Idol results show, and Sanjaya Malakar standing tall into the Top elite 8 American Idol contestants, one thing is for sure: American Idol has changed.Unfortunately

the change hasn’t been for the better. Hopefully the experience of American Idol Season 6 will bring about rule changes, voting changes and make a positive change to avoid season 6 blunders.

I can only image the extra amount of nuts that will crawl out from under the rock and attempt to join the American Idol audition process for American Idol 2008 Season 7.

This is American Idol, not American Idiot or America’s Got Talent Freak show.

I have never been more disappointed in the recent occurrences on American Idol. Has the listening audience forgot that this is a TALENT COMPETITION! I think that what Howard Stern is doing is a crime. I mean, does Sanjaya really think that he can sing? Doesn’t he realize that the votes he’s getting is merely a joke? Why doesn’t he just leave voluntarily? I would, if I were him. I am upset because the contestants that have true talent are putting their hearts and soul into this competition, and they will be stuck with the label according to the news media that this season has been the worst season…this…is not fair to them. Please please just LEAVE Sanjaya.

I could not agree more about this whole Sanjaya fiasco. It is ruing American Idol and the thrill of finding and voting for true talent who has the “IT” factor of the next and newest Idol. Sanjaya’s so called winning popularity is making a mokery of the whole thing as well as the talent of the other contestants. I am bewildered. How can Sanjaya not see this. Is he that blind to his obvious lack of singing ability? How can he even consider himself in the same league as Jordin, Melinda or Blake? If I were him I’d be too emabarassed to continue. In the future the powers that be at Idol should look into the possibility of allowing voters only one vote per person….if such a thing could be possible. Wishful thinking….sigh…

You all are a bunch of @#$$.

It is not sanjaya, it is Simon, Paula and Randy to be blamed.. They included him in top 24. If he does not have talent, why would they pick him in top 24 ?? If he does not singing he would have come in top 24..

    Just open your brains…

I said from the start that the judging was wrong. This indeed is a tallent contest. This will probably finish the American Idol show. There are those who have gone with their tallent where few have the opportunity. But the way this years tallent is being lost to a looser is really sad. There seems to be a lot of loose money behind the looser on the show. You might find that some computers are doing the voting rather than people. There are a lot of gimics out there. Random dialing by computers has been around for years.

SANJAYA ISN’T GOOD I DO AGREE ON THAT BUT AT THE SAME TIME HE DID GREAT THIS WEEK (LATIN THEME) HE WAS BY FAR THE BEST!!! IN PREVIOUS WEEKS HE WAS NO GOOD AND HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GONE!! THE RACE IS BETWEEN MELINDA D. AND LAKISHA J. I STILL SAY! ONE OF THEM WILL WIN AMERICAN IDOL AND BOTH WILL GET RECORD DEALS EVEN IF THEY DONT WIN AMERICAN IDOL SOMEONE WILL NOTICE THEM AND GIVE THEM A LABEL!!
