How many Votes Did Sanjaya Receive on American Idol?
With the American Idol Voting Conspiracy and the Sanjaya Voting blocks supported by Vote for the Worst and Howard Stern, we can assume a few voting patterns.
It was annouced last week and this week that apporxiamtely 30 Million votes were received. The popluarity of the voting block by Howard Stern Fans and VFTW website is a limited number. They are dedicated and on a single mission to vote for Sanjaya Malakar mutiple times. It was reported than many Anti-Idol and Sanjaya fans voted upwards from 50 to 200 times for Sanjaya only.
So lets do some math. The Anti-Idol Sanjaya fan base lets say for educated guess purposes is no more than 250,000 people strong. I think that is really a high number. People that are obessed enough to follow the Stern and VFTW model are probably a hell of a lot smaller than that.
If there were 30 million votes recorded for 10 contestants and the votes were distributed evenly there would be only 3 million votes per contestant.
If we play with the Sanjaya factor numbers and say that there are 250,000 American Idiots and they voted on average 25 times for Sanjaya his vote total would be 6.25 Million votes.
DialIdol that supports a speed dailing program does a statitical analysis from there programs and give a good cross section voting spectrum. There results showed the order of votes they recorded as the following with the First one as receiving the most votes:

Chris Richardson
Lakisha Jones
Sanjaya Malakar ( 14 % of votes)
Gina Glocksen
Phil Stacey ( 11 % of votes) with 3% Margin of error
Blake Lewis
Jordin Sparks
Haley Scarnato ( 9% of votes)
Chris Sligh ( 9% of votes)
If we use the Dial Idol Stats as a basis factor and use the 30 million votes as a constant, then Melinda fans voted and she received give or take 5.7 Million votes. Sanjaya received give or take 4.2 Million votes and voted off Chris Sligh only received give or take 2.7 Million votes.
In our orginal number theory about VFTW / Stern Fans the 6.25 Million votes possibility seems extremely high. The Dial Idol percentages of 4.2 Million seems more realistic.
As the contestant pool drops each week, only 9 idols to vote for on 4-3-07, the former Chris Sligh voters will spread their 2.7 Million votes to other contestants. Each week votes from the contestant voted off will be distributed to another contestant.
To combat the Sanjaya Anti-Idol American Idiots Stern Fans with multiple votes but a limited number of supporters, the Sligh Fans need to put their votes towards some of the bottom contenters as well. Such as Haley Scarnato and Phil Stacey.
The only true way to beat the numbers game for the next two weeks or so and get Sanjaya voted off will be based upon limiting the idol choices. However, Fans that are voting now could double their efforts. Just 5 more votes per person for anyone other than Sanjaya, it will do some justice. It may take two or three weeks for Sanjaya to be voted off based upon swings votes coming from voted off Idol contestant fans new favorites.
Even with a Sanjaya Factor gaining voting strenght and momentum, their voting power will not exceed the publics votes as the choices narrow. If the 250,000 Anti-Idols double their efforts and vote 50 times then their would be about 12.5 Million for Sanjaya from a voting total of about 42 Million votes recorded. ( which would be unlikely based upon a 2 hour voting window). If the General Idol Fan doubled their efforts then we would see about 60 Plus Million votes and the Sanjaya Factor would only account for 20%.
It’s a Numbers Game. But a Number Game that Will Not Turn out in Sanjaya’s Favor in a matter of weeks!!

What the Hell has happened to American Idol? It used to be a Reality Television Show that commanded a person to watch; now, it is just a BIG JOKE!!!!! Sanjaya, of course, being the laugh of the season is not helping to keep the show alive; and I do believe that the “JUDGES” should have some say at this point in time……NO?
Get this CHILD off the show so that we can perhaps enjoy the show again. There is some talent on there and it would be nice to see a person who has talent, ambition, sttrong commitment and love of music sing weekly, and in-the-end, win IT ALL!!!!! SANJAYA HAS TO GO! SANJAYA HAS TO GO! IT IS NOT FUNNY ANYMORE. As Simon says, “This is a SINGING COMPETITION.” Get the freak off the air; let the talent shine!

I used to watch every episode of American Idol on both nights every week. Since Chris (who I liked) was voted off this past week I have no interest to watch anymore. Sanjaya is a joke and the people voting are making a joke of a program that could benefit someone else’s career. Look at what they went through to get where they are in hopes of a singing career, COME ON people vote the right way and boot off Sanjaya for goodness sakes. If I could vote I would so someone else please vote for me. I live in Canada and can’t vote. I am not even dedicated to Canadian Idol as American Idol because I don’t find there are as many great singers as on American Idol. PLEASE VOTE SANJAYA OFF AND SEND HIM HOME WHERE HE BELONGS. His sister was a better singer and they kept him. I don’t want to see American Idol fall to the ground and as much as Simon is hated, I kinda like him, so lets keep American Idol around and Simon too.

All I want is for the voting to go back to the best candidate receiving the most votes. This Sanjaya nonsense will have far-reaching effects on future shows. We have to make sure the BEST Idol wins the competition.

All this garbage about voting who DESERVES it is laughable. Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the only people stupid enough to waste their time dialing the same number over and over are usually pre-teens with crushes on “hot” or “cute” contestants? The show is meant to be entertaining, if was really about the singing, then every past winner would have platinum albums hanging on their walls. That is obviously not the case (last I heard of Hicks was that he was performing at Foxwoods).
So relax, and enjoy the Malakar show, you know Fox is loving it. If it offends you, then don’t tune in, and deprive that network of the millions in advertising that keeps the show alive. Then maybe they will change the rules to suit your preferences…that is if there are enough of you to make a difference.
