On the 3-20-07 episode of American Idol, the producers introduced us to a little girl in
the audience crying when Sanjaya Malakar was performing.
The producers continually showed her, Simon mentioned her, Ryan Seacrest suggested Sanjaya hug her, and then at the end The American Idol Crying Girl Ashley Ferl was brought up on stage.
The Crying Girl Ashley had Semi front row seats. Then the Comment by Simon. How would Simon know the camera man was focused on the crying girl, unless the procducers mentioned it to him on the spot, or pre-planned. Simon would not have made references to the crying girl unless he knew it was on AIR and shown several times.
Are the American Idol Producers Backing Sanjaya? Are the American Idol Producers Wagging the Dog? Do the American Idol Producers create Controversy for ratings?
According to Idol Producers:
According to AMERICAN IDOL producers, the 13 year old tearjerker was Ashley Ferl, a ‘lucky’ audience member who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. According to producers, the Ferl family was actually on the lot to attend a taping of ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER, which granted her access to an IDOL rehearsal taping. Naturally, when the taping began, the powers that be couldn’t help but notice Ashley’s enthusiastic (to say the least) reaction to some of the contestants. Leading them to extend an invitation to Ashley for the actual taping, where of course she became the real star of the night.
Humm, all the seems to much like a set up to me. And yes Sanjaya Malakar needs to go home and be voted off American Idol. Enough is enough already

I enjoy Idol and try to turn a blind eye to pure audience manipulation but the crying girl was too much. Sad to say but Idol is really turning into a circus.

If not for TiVO American Idol would not be watchable. Perhaps the producers are setting up Sanjaya to stick around a few weeks but they are not doing it with the crying girl, they are selling it with the crying girl. It has become more then obvious over the last few years that the voting system is fixed and the lack of singing ability of Sanjaya proves it even more. Fox knew that Sanjaya was going to stick around regardless of the the voting results. They needed to setup the crying girl to make America believe it is for this reason he was voted on enough times to stick around. It is a shame so many people fall for it.
American Idol is an awful show due to how they “play” the general public. If the public would stop being so stupid perhaps it would be a good show. Until then use your TiVO to fast forward through all the rest of the trash on the show and stop when the good singers are on air.
Simon is about the only thing Idol should not change on the show, everyone else needs to follow Sanjaya out the door.

American Idol is becoming a farce. Plain as the Mohawk hairdo on Sanjaya’s head. If he wins, i hope Simon do quit for he is the aspexct of the show that gives it credibility, insults and all.
