Yes American Sanjaya Malakar is still on American Idol after 3-21-07
On the 3-21-07 voted off American Idol Sanjaya Malaklar was not even one of the bottom 2 to receive the least amount of votes. Both Chris Richardson and Stephanie Edwards were singled out as the bottom two. Stephanie Edwards was voted off. There was no commentary from the judges or anyone as the show ran long andStephanie didn’t even sing her farewell song.
Ok American voice your opinions as to why Sanjaya should still be on American Idol.
Is it the support from Vote for the worst? Is is the backing of Howard Stern and his minions, or is it that there are really Millions upon Millions of Sanjaya Fans?

it is 100% vote for the worst and if sanjaya wins i hope he knows its not because america loves him…i am not one of stephanies fans but she did not deserve to go and chris should not have been in the bottom…but it doesnt matter because he will survive next week and another good person will be voted off

SANJAYA is cruising and on his way to be the next American IDOL. What a joke! I will never watch American Idol again if he makes the top 6 or even 8. he needs to get his exposure stage presence and maturity from HIGH SCHOOL musicals and quit wrecking a show full of great singers because people think he is a “SWEETY”………….IF YOU WANT SWEET, go suck on a lolly pop!!!!
I lived in Hawaii where Hula dancing is very popular and the high school I went to had a Hula Club, and the only two guys in the club were in fact a “couple” if you know what I mean.
SANJAYA would be a great entertainer for singing the national anthem at the Gay Olympics in Chicago Next Year!

Sounds like someone from Hawaii has a bad case of homophobia. Two gay guys in a hula club does not sum up the gay population as a whole; I can’t even see any logical point of comparison you have between Sanjaya and a hula club.
You want to know the truth? American Idol reeks. They get great singers and turn them into the flavors of the month. They care for the singers they choose only during the season’s run, then ditch them for a new cast once the next auditions roll around. Kelly Clarkson didn’t achieve the popularity she’s enjoying now because American Idol producers were supporting her; she (and Clay Aiken, I believe) got out of their AI contracts before they really began to shine. AI generates more profit from AI show ratings, and not their contestants’ record sales. The nature of their show implies the fact that most of the ‘great singers’ in their contest are good for only one year, then allow most of them to fade back into obscurity afterwards.
Sure, Sanjaya doesn’t have the best vocals, but he’s great to watch, for the girls’ eyecandy if nothing else. You probably wouldn’t be complaining as much if it had been a pretty girl with big hooters instead. If guys can make talentless hacks like Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton a star, then you have no right to complain if us girls support Sanjaya, who’s not even psychotic the way they are. Grow up, and do some credible research on gay culture and stereotyping before claming to know what gays should and shouldn’t be.
FYI? Most of Sanjaya’s votes probably came from call centers the United States outsourced to Indian companies. They don’t pay any big fees to use the phones, so they dial in during their spare time for Sanjaya. You want cheaper labor, you gotta pay the price. Ha.

You are right that i am a bit HOMOPHOBIC! Girls may think Sanjaya is a bit of eye candy with his fluffy hair and smile from LA to NY. I personally thought Antonella Barba was smokin, but Im glad she got voted off because her voice was a wreck! Same thing with Sanjaya. Even the judges cant stand him! He is absolutely awfull! He makes me GAG everytime I see him on TV or in the news. He is a complete and utter Queer! The boy has issues! He looks exactly like his sister and neither of them can sing. WHO AM I TO JUDGE THOUGH RIGHT?????

I used to enjoy watching Idol until Sundance was voted off. This show sucks now. It’s not a competion. Someone is getting paid for the sucky ones to stay. I don’t even watch any more, this is ridiculous.
Call me racist if you will but to be an American Idol shouldn’t you at least look American?

Looking at the Sanjaya American Idol Controversy from a different Indian viewpoint and then commentary:
Is it the clothes, the hair, pity or pure talent that’s pushing the American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar to win on the show night after night and causing the girls to cry?
Or is it the website ‘VoteForTheWorst.com’ that helped the 17-year-old Indian American contestant from Seattle, who has been consistently panned by bloggers, critics and judges.
The Indian connection
With controversial radio talk show host Howard Stern throwing his weight behind Sanjaya, and asking his fans to vote for him, the plot continues to thicken with the controversy now extending to Sanjaya’s Indian roots with some reports suggesting that Sanjaya has made it to the final eleven because of his Indian descent.
Sanjaya is the first Indian American to make it to the finals of the hugely popular show and conspiracy theories have now begun to do the rounds that votes from the Indian American community are what are keeping Sanjaya in the show.
Mixed reactions
The Sanjaya controversy has been rumoured to cause acid tongued American Idol judge Simon Cowell to say he may possibly quit the show if Sanjaya wins. So just what do American Idol viewers think of Sanjay?
“I think he’s great, he’s got a good voice, and he’s got a good image. You know what I mean? He’d be ready to go he has to just keep working hard at it,” suggested John Zayas, an avid viewer of the show.
“He has a different singing tone compared to the other ones, the way he hits high notes and everything — he is good,” said another viewer Justin Fernandez.
“He doesn’t need to win because we don’t like him very much,” said another viewer Golan Maglain.
While random Idol viewers were mixed on his chances of success, Sarina Jain, a well known New York based Indian American entertainment entrepreneur, said that Sanjaya may indeed have the talent to win.
“I think he has great talent. I think the reason why he is making headline news is because there is something about him that is actually sticking on,†opined Sarina adding that Sanjaya has a great look, great hair, and if he were to clean up his voice just a little bit, he has a great chance of winning the American Idol.
Another Shilpa?
The controversy over Sanjaya however, brings to mind the recent storm over another Indian Shilpa Shetty whose presence on UK reality show ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ generated immense controversy and TRPs. So, is the same line being toed by American Idol, which no doubt is a hugely popular show, but may be looking to relieve viewer fatigue after being on the airwaves for the past six years?

Commentary:
I don’t think they get it, Sanjaya Just lacks the Singing Talent of some of the other contestants that have been voted off. He’s not a bad guy, just not as talented. The factors that are keeping him in American Idol are:
1) Vote for the worst supporter
2) Howard Stern Supporters
3) Sociological and geographical Support
4) Actual Fans
This is not an issue of Race, or ethnicity, or anything derogatory towards Sanjaya as a human being, just that this is a “TALENT” Contest in which his talent doesn’t stack up

I hope all the people that are voting for him because he’s so horrible are willing to buy his CD’s if he wins. Not only are they ruining the whole concept of American Idol but they are giving false hope to a horrible singer. After Sanjaya reads all about himself in the media, he has to know that the only reason he is still on the show is because of the people contributing to the “Vote for the Worst.”
And why does is always have to be a racial thing as well…Who cares whether he is white, black, indian, gay, straight…all I care about is the fact that all the people voting for him because he is so bad are ruining the show and this 17-year old kid.

Hawaii does not constitute the general gay population as a whole. Just because you know gays that way, doesn’t mean it works for all. Neither does it mean that any seemingly effeminate person is gay, either. And since when has Sanjaya ever said he was gay? You seem more offended by the fact that he seems “queer” to you than the fact that he can’t sing. And if you can’t give any further credible reason as to why he’s queer other than stating that you think he is, then shut up. Despite all they say, American Idol is a VOTING competition first, and singing competition second. Stop passing judgment on people by how closely they fit to your own personal standards.
I personally love Melinda and Chris Sligh, but I hope Sanjaya DOES stick around longer, just to annoy homophobes like you.

If not for TiVO American Idol would not be watchable. Perhaps the producers are setting up Sanjaya to stick around a few weeks but they are not doing it with the crying girl, they are selling it with the crying girl. It has become more then obvious over the last few years that the voting system is fixed and the lack of singing ability of Sanjaya proves it even more. Fox knew that Sanjaya was going to stick around regardless of the the voting results. They needed to setup the crying girl to make America believe it is for this reason he was voted on enough times to stick around. It is a shame so many people fall for it.
American Idol is an awful show due to how they “play†the general public. If the public would stop being so stupid perhaps it would be a good show. Until then use your TiVO to fast forward through all the rest of the trash on the show and stop when the good singers are on air.
Simon is about the only thing Idol should not change on the show, everyone else needs to follow Sanjaya out the door.

Why do the losers have to sing the song they lost with? You would think they would be allowed to sing any song they wish as they leave the show, just seems silly to have to sing the song that did them in.. well not in the case of Sanjaya.
