Just when you thought it was safe, that all the American Idol controversy and 
melodrama surrounding Antonella Barba was over, Another Idol-Gate emerges surrounding Sanjaya Malakar.
Sanjaya Malakar is the 17 year old from the state of Washington, that has not only made it through Hollywood Round, the Top 24, but now the Top 11.
His talent is subject when compared to many of the Hollywood Idol Contestants before him, and especially some of the Top 24 American Idols that were voted off or dismissed in prior round.
So what is keeping Sanjaya in the Idol Contest?
Many have speculated that the grassroots campaign spear-headed by vote for the 
worst website is a major factor. With the ability to speed dialing and automated calling software, an American Idol prank of keeping Sanjaya in the contest could have merit.
Are there really that many Sanjaya fans out there?
Is he receiving legitimate votes from teenagers, or single call fans? or is the conspiracy afoot?
Last week Sanjaya made the cut, this week popular Brandon Rogers was voted off. Will Sanjaya make the cut again next week 3-22-07?
Part of the American Idol voting process flaw is the vote for your favorite contestant, rather then vote OFF someone. Instead of counting votes for, they should count votes against. In that case, it would make a more legitimate voting process.

I think Sanjaya is not that bad. I mean sure, he sings the songs a little differently, but his voice is smooth and he isn’t bad in the vocal department. The judges just don’t like him, because he’s not the type of guy to sing a manly song, he’s too adorable and girly.. and he will sing adorable and girly. Those other contestants put lots and lots of voice into their songs, but Sanjaya can’t go so high and can’t sing with force. He’s just too sweet.. and lots of people like songs like that. Sweet music.
Sanjaya is a pretty good singer. You guys don’t give him enough credit. Stop assuming that there is some conspiracy going on - it isn’t fair to him and all that he’s been through.
Haven’t you guys ever stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, that a lot of us think that Sanjaya is a good singer?

No, I didn’t like William Hung. He couldn’t sing and people were only just making fun of him. I feel so sorry for the poor guy, messing with him like this. They only did it because its fun to mess with innocent, unsuspecting asian guys. It’s cruel and mean.
Sanjaya, on the other hand, can actually sing. Period.

Sanjaya sings like Stevie Wonder. I love Stevie Wonder. His voice is smooth and sweet and timid. It’s great. I’ll definately keep voting for him.

I just wanted to express that although I knew that Brandon would not sail through to the final 2, I also recall that Haley messed up her words as well. Now Brandon didnt get praise from Simon after his final performance, but Brandon didnt shed tears either Haley did. I regret now that I am a fan of Idol, It is reality tv not a singing competition. I feel sorry for Sanjaya, I feel America is giving him the wrong impression about his singing future. We should stick to voting for the best singers.

You are ruining the show and what it is meant to be, that is finding talent and giving a future to those who have it.

I agree with Jeanie, you are making a debacle of this great talent seeking program. Please don’t ruin this show by causing good hopefuls to be voted off just because someone is cute like Sanjaya. Also, this is creating false hope for someone who is just mediocre.

I have read that the” vote for the worst web site ” is encouraging each person to spend 2 hours each night to phone in votes to Sanjaya. What a travesty for a good program we all enjoy. There should be an investigation into this stacking of votes. What a selfish thing to do for those of us who honestly vote for the best talent.
I look for this program to expire because of these actions.
Shame on all of you who do this for runing a good program!!!!!!!!!!

It is a sad day when we as human beings is targeting an innocent young man like Sanjaya with cruel and vicious voting games. This kid has a beautiful and melow singing voice that is more on the soft side. We seem to appreiciate stripping and non singing talent like that young lady who was not subjected to humilation like Sanjaya.
I believe that he is still there because people like myself voted base on the the singing abililty and wonderful presence he portray. Most of us think that this show is more of race and ethnic back ground than singing. Sanjaya is really punished because he is of the Indian race unlike the recent stripper who can’t not sing, was more appreciated and accepted because she is white!
Why there was not a voting system for the stripper to stay in American Idol and in addition, can’t not sing? You all voted for her to make the top 12 even when you knew what her history was. Sanjaya was always on key with his singing , not one night was he off pitch and has not forget the words of the sound he choose. Sanjaya whether you stay or get voted off keep pursuing your dream with that beautiful voice and don’t let a few bad apples take that away from you!

Sayjaya is a total joke and should NEVER have been put through. This year of American Idol is a complete sham and is going to hurt future rating for this show. They should make it so that each phone # gets ONE vote in - and that’s it - because this bull crap with people voting for the worst has to stop. It’s completely defeating the purpose of the show. All these losers who are voting for the worst people on the show are just doing it as a means of getting back for being made fun of in high school for being the worst at whatever they failed in. This is a talent show - NOT a drag queen competition!

Sundance had his brother die in a car crash, and just recently, his cousin died in a house fire.

It was sad to see Brandon go home. I never thought he would win, but I go to the American IDOL concert tour and I would have liked to see Brandon on stage!!
My favorite’s right now are Jordin,Malinda, Gina, Lakisha and Blake.
In a way………….Randy, Paula and Simon are responsable for Sanjay still being in the competition. He never should have made it to the top 24.
I agree that Idol is losing it’s popularity because the better singers are going home.
Keep voting for the one’s with little talent and there may not be American Idol next year. Grow up people!!

Sanjaya does have some talent. Very few people can get up in front of millions and smile after they know that they have ruined a song. This is a contest to find the best singer, not the humblest.

Honestly, I do not like Sanjaya. I have heard rumors that if he wins, Simon will not be back on the show. I feel the same - the show is AMERICAN idol. He is not american. I apologize to anyone who disagrees, but please..let the talent win, not his hair.

If race is not a factor why you people didn’t dish out same critic for other contestant who can’t sing and there were alot of contestant that made the top 12 with no sining talent that did not go through this. Plus help stop the voting system that is keeping him in the show. And to the above reply he wrote this “that he is not American the show is American Idol”, so race is more a factor than some of us want to admit. If you think he cannot sing then DON’T VOTE vote for him.
People is not fighting or sounding there voices to stop the VFWS method instead picking on the young man. Some Human Beings we are. The young man did nothing wrong just sang or not sing in a competition, why are we blaming him for stupid people games?.

According to MSNBC the little girl that was crying when she saw Sanjaya make an ass of himself on stage(and everyone else that had anything to do with him making it to the top 24)…………………………. on the March 20th show, was a PLANT!!!! Front row seat, no less!!!! I have been an American Idol fan since season 2. This year might be their last!! I don’t think I’ll waste any more of my time on the phone voting!!! I will watch tho, because now it’s about comedy! What a joke!! I will hold out “SOME” hope that either Melinda, Blake, Jordin, Gina, or Lakisha will be in the top 3. I can’t believe Stephanie went home…………..and yes, I did vote for her!!!

Oh Sanjaya! What a bad hairdo every week! And for me, you are the worst contestant on Idol so far. I was a fan of Sabrina, Sundance & Brandon; but now all of them have been sent home; eventhough they all possess such a huge singing talent, far way better than you!! Now, I’m voting for JORDIN ! All I have to say, if I were Sanjaya I would feel terrible that I have remained when others who obviously should have remained were voted off, simply because people aren’t voting based on talent, just to be, well, I don’t what, but it’s not talent…
If I were Sanjaya I would make a statement on the website to “vote for me because you think I have talent, not just because”.. In the long run he will have his 15 minutes of fame like William Huang, but he will “never” be in the same league as Carrie and other American Idol winners… I don’t think this is fair to him or the other Contestants, how sad to know no matter how poorly Sanjaya does, he will not be voted off….
