Glendale teenager Jordin Sparks and Peoria resident Jarrod Fowler earned golden tickets to the show’s Hollywood auditions, which air this week.

Both Sparks, a bubbly 17-year-old with an unmistakable curly black mane, and Fowler, a soft-crooning Navy man, could make appearances on the show.

On Wednesday, producers will announce the season’s top 24 contestants to be judged live by viewers. Although the Hollywood auditions were taped earlier, the contestants will learn their fate along with the rest of the country.Jordin Sparks American Idol

To prepare for the hoopla, Sparks’ family will host a private viewing party for family and friends, said her grandmother-turned-manager Pam Wiedmann. Fowler’s parents said they plan to circle around the television and spend a quiet evening at home, hoping for the best for their son.

Fowler, 28, won a singing title aboard the USS Ronald Reagan, the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier on which he is stationed. As a prize, his crewmates sent him to the show’s Minneapolis auditions, where he donned his Navy whites and sang Bless the Broken Road, a song popularized by Rascal Flatts.

Sparks, a former student at Sandra Day O’Connor High School, won Channel 10’s statewide Arizona Idol competition. The contest combed local malls for talented singing hopefuls. As the winner, Sparks received a trip to Idol’s Seattle auditions, where she sang Celine Dion’s Because You Loved Me.

American Idol contestants are prohibited from speaking to the media until the top 24 contestants are announced. After Wednesday, Fox officials said the contestants would likely be allowed to conduct interviews in their hometowns.

American Idol airs from 7 to 8 p.m. today and 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Fox officials said.
