American Idol candidate and Navy Officer Phil Stacey was able to audition for American Idol and see the birth of his 2nd child. The segment will air on the American Idol Show.
Oklahoma city ”American Idol” producers came up with a way to help an Oklahoma Navy officer who faced missing a tryout for the show because his wife gave birth to their second child.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Phil Stacey of Shawnee persuaded producers in Memphis, Tennessee, to let him audition early so he could return to Jacksonville, Florida, to be with his wife Kendra and their new daughter.
In return Stacey had to arrange to videotape their reunion.
Stacey’s father-in-law _ Mark McIntosh of Shawnee _ says the producers like the taped reunion enough they plan to use it on the show. McIntosh says Stacey had missed the birth of his first daughter because he was in Navy boot camp.
Stacey’s “American Idol” audition is scheduled to be broadcast tonight.
he had the baby, but does he get the Golden Ticket?

Please note: American Idol had already showed the preview of the Memphis auditions, including a scene of Phil holding his baby in the hospital, and had already announced that Memphis tryouts had delivered not only some great talent, but also an American Idol baby, the week before this article came out! So it was obvious from American Idol’s own Memphis preview the week before, that the producers were going to use the footage of Phil’s baby the next show!
