SAN ANTONIO Dozens of “American Idol” hopefuls are auditioning in San Antonio today in front of Paula, Simon and Randy.
The celebrity panel of Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson were in Texas to send some contestants to Hollywood — and others home.
The sixth season of the megahit reality show begins airing in January. The San Antonio round will be spotlighted one episode.
An estimated 36-point-4 million people watched as Taylor Hicks was voted as the fifth “American Idol” in May.
First season winner Kelly Clarkson, of Burleson, has won two Grammys since appearing on the show that launched her career.
San Antonio is one of seven cities where “American Idol” is holding auditions for the new season.
