Other Commentary on Elliott:

Finalist Elliott Yamin matured so much over the course of the competition during American idol.  And as his name was displayed as the person that was going home and would not make the finals he said he expected it.

“I just knew that my name was going to be attached to the bottom number,” he said during a conference call yesterday. “And I was prepared for it. It was easy to take in and grasp (because) I was able to make peace with that.”

Elliott left the show with class, a few tears and some lessons.

“A year ago, I was lost,” he said. “I’m a better man for this and I’ve planted an awesome seed for my future. I’ve been able to find my career and my niche. And that’s very special.”

On the tears:

“I’m emotional anyway,” he said by way of explanation. “It runs in my blood. Maybe because I’m an underdog, the kid who came from nowhere.”

Idol judge Paula Abdul also cried, as she often does when a contest gets booted – but she and Yamin seemed to share a special bond. “She’s got a big heart like I do, so that’s maybe why she identifies with me and why we can relate to one another,” Yamin said of Abdul, who last week told Teen People she wanted him to win. “The feelings are mutual. She’s just a sweetheart,” People Magazine reports.
Watching the video of the E-Train’s tour from early on in the reality based program it was wonderful to watch this young man with raw talent hone his skills and mature as a performer.  It was hard to believe that the first guy in those videos was the man that entertained 30 million Americans week after week for so long.

Lauren Beckham Falcone writes in the Boston Herald,  that he is till humble and after Wednesday’s results, Yamin packed his bags and grabbed dinner at a Taco Bell drive-through after thanking “Idol’s” production staff.

“Without those people, I wouldn’t have made it so far,” he said. “I got to see my mom and give her a big old kiss. She was tickled with pride and everyone was crying, but it was a great celebration.”

As for the finalists, Yamin said he’s great friends with Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee and has learned from both.

Elliott will perform again with the other finalists on the Idol summer tour.
