The USA Today reported on American Idol Anti - Katharine McPhee sentiments by both the American Public and the AI Judges themselves.
Yes Kat has talent, Yes Kat uses her sexuality and looks to get her further in the contest. Yes Kat has fans. Will Kat be the Final Idol on 5-24-06? Um NO
USA Today columist had the following comments about Kat and the American Idol Contest:
The backlash against American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee in the wake of contestant Chris Daughtry’s elimination from the show, as reported in USA TODAY (”Chris’ exit stuns fans of ‘Idol’,” Life, May 12), is yet another example of how the show’s fifth season has inexplicably turned increasingly anti-women.
McPhee, who will compete next week against contestant Taylor Hicks, is arguably the most talented contestant this year, and industry legends David Foster and Tommy Mottola alluded to that during their guest appearances on the show. Nonetheless, resident judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and, to a lesser extent, Simon Cowell, have sought to undermine her confidence.
Now, it appears that viewers have jumped on the anti-McPhee bandwagon, demonstrating that the show isn’t really about crowning the best undiscovered raw talent but more about favorites and demographics.
For those of us who still believe in the time-honored tradition of “may the best person win,” let’s hope Katharine McPhee is the next “Idol”.
Yes Katharine does have talent. However, In the past, she forgot the words to one of her songs, involved in many semi-scandals ( pregnancy rumor, Wardrobe Malfunction) and is a pampered Los Angles Hollywood Kid. We don’t take anything away from Katharine’s singing talent, she has a great voice. Arguably Both Chris Daughtry and Elliott Yamin were better performers than Miss Kat. The Judges have been fair in their evaluations to date and American Idol is not just a singing contest nor a popularity contest, it is a showcase of talent and WHO can be the most profitable entertainer to bring the all mighty dollar to the producers, managers etc.
Next week 5-23-06 we will see the face off of Katharine McPhee Vs Taylor Hicks. Taylor Hicks should win the crown of American Idol Winner 2006.

I feel very sorry for katharine…..she should have chosen to leave the show and let chris stay….if she had done that, she would still have a chance at a career without all the enemies….when you choose money or power or fame over doing the right thing, it can only end up badly…..I know I have given up promotions because i knew that others would despise me because they would think another was more qualified….and I know it’s more important to have people like you than despise you…especially in that big entertainment world!!!

What the poster ‘idolfan’ was insinuating was for Katharine to disagree with the result and step out of the show. That comment is way out of line. It is borne out of envy, doubt, disrespect, disbelief and non-acceptance of the show in a sense, which to me is the worst that a fan could become with their fantasy. Chris, after all, is less of a vocalist than Katharine and rock fans could not see the big difference. Because of the judges’ favorable comments that had built around Chris the previous week, the fans capitalized those comments to be believable and held Katharine guilty for Chris’ fall . Katharine’s behaviour was just normal - she was shocked, but never did it occur to her that she would dishonor the show’s results by doing anything else but hang in there. After all, it was to her favor. Conversely, if it was the reverse, I’m sure Chris would have done just the same. So, to ‘idolfan’, I can understand your frustration and I’m sorry, your pick didn’t win, but the show must go on.

Katharine’s staying or leaving the show is not within the public’s or fan’s (or anybody’s) jurisdiction to explore or question. She was told that she was safe, and she did the right thing to stay on. After all, it was to her favor.
However, obviously, Simon Cowell’s comment did not convince or sway the general voting public to vote along his prediction, at that particular time, for Chris. Sorry Chris. Let the shock rest. The show must go on.
