Last night was all about romance — and underpants. Tonight was about kicking someone to the curb.
The judges started the show by apologizing to Katherine McPhee. While I do think that their comments were a little harsh last night, I have to wonder if her panty shot provoked some additional interest in her performance.
Andrea Bocelli was tonight’s guest. There’s no doubt that the man can definitely sing, but he is — I said it before and I will say it again — a very weird choice for this show’s guest spot. His performance just didn’t seem to fit, and I found myself scrounging for snacks during his segment.
When elimination time came around, they paired everyone up. I hate these little groups. However, I was thrilled to see Elliot sit down. Obviously there was a reason why I couldn’t get through on either of his phone lines last night. Also, does everyone realize that Taylor is the only contestant that has not yet been victim to the bottom three? This Soul Patrol must have quite a member roster.
Whether you loved or hated her cornpone demeanor, you no longer have to deal with Kellie Pickler. With the exception of the highlight of her highlight reel when she exclaimed to Rod Stewart, “You really took a load off my chest,” I was happy to see her go. Blonde moments aside, after two weeks (possibly more, I might have blocked it) of poor performances, she got a much-deserved boot.
