American Idol: Sick of Kellie Pickler yet?

 Kellie Pickler’s family hardships continue to play a role in the Idol hopeful’s chances at winning this season of American Idol. Many Idol fans have tired of her “woe is me” stories about her broken family and tough upbringing. But the sad sack stories are just beginning.

Kellie’s father, Bo Pickler, is incarcerated for felony battery and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer/firefighter/EMT. Now with two months to go before he’s released from prison, Bo Pickler has made a play for his share of the spotlight – in a heartfelt letter to his local newspaper – the incarcerated Idol father expressed his love for his now-famous daughter. This raises the question: Why can’t the Picklers keep their family business to themselves?

Excerpts of the letter ran in the Pickler’s hometown paper, The Stanly News and Press, located in Albemarle, North Carolina. Bo, 41, managed to hit upon every cliché you’d expect a prisoner to use when speaking to the media. Has he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior? Check. Does he have a desire to make amends for his bad ways? And is he prepared to become an active member in the local church? You betcha!

The best part of the letter says Kellie’s father is planning on coming back home to Albemarle upon his release, which is May 12.

Uh-oh.

That means that if Idol hopeful Kellie Pickler ends up among the three finalists the week of May 16 and on the final Idol showdown on the week May 23, her dad may very well be in the audience. 

The most salacious reality TV producer couldn’t ever come up with something as juicy as this. Just imagine. Cute and naïve teen overcomes growing up in a dysfunctional family to be an American Idol finalist. Her incarcerated father is just out of the pokey and is flown first class to sit in the audience during Idol finals. Kellie milks the sympathy vote as she tearfully dedicates her songs to her father. Cut to close-ups of dad mouthing, “I love you,” to daughter after her performance. End result = ratings bonanza!

And if Kellie Pickler does end up becoming the next American Idol, you can almost predict what the fall out will be in years to come. Dad will want be a part of Kellie’s life and make up for a lost time. He’ll want a hand in managing his daughter’s new career – and of course her money. Then dad will have a criminal relapse and end behind bars again. The ultimate blow will be when Kellie’s dad sues her for “his share” of the money.
