What a difference when the weeds are plucked from the garden.

Before I go into my favorite performances of the night, can I just say how much Paula bugs me? In trying to sound so sincere, she comes across as muy phony. Every phrase out of those glossy lips contained one of the following:

“Everytime you open your mouth it’s like….”
“You are so unique!”
“Wow! That was amazing!”

And then she goes on this weird stream of consciousness pep talk tangent that makes no sense – and of course, those speeches are peppered with key words that Randy used two seconds before her.

On with the rest of the show. Our top 12 had a lot to contend with this evening.

Stevie Wonder? That’s hard, man. Even Stevie Wonder has trouble singing Stevie Wonder songs.

At first, when Ace came out and sucked harder than an ocotpus with a Blow Pop, I thought it was going to be a lonnnnggggg night. Even my husband agreed, and he doesn’t even watch. He yelled out from the other room: “They better not take on Ribbon in the Sky!”

Therefore, it was mighty refreshing when everyone after…

 

pulled it off. Did you notice how Stevie fished for kind words for Kevin and all he could come up with was “He was interesting.”

I can’t even pick a favorite tonight. Except for the first few, excluding Mandisa, they were all like a fancy gourmet chocolate eggs arranged in a flashy dessert case (I’m excited Easter is coming up, can you tell?). Katharine, Chris and Paris were my Top 3, but I’m not sure in which order.

Mandisa’s shoe situation was a hoot, but I hope she doesn’t take it too far in thinking it is *cute* and perform barefooted each week. That would be so Kellie Pickler of her. I wish Ace would cut out the puppy dog eyes and work more on exercising his vocal chords. I wish Chicken Little would get voted off already! He’s getting a little sassy week after week and we all know he is not going to win. And if Taylor bleaches his hair and streaks it, I will have lost all respect for the man.

What did you think of Kellie “Look! My-eyelashes-are-fake!” Pickler? I rolled my peepers so much my lids are still sore. It seems in her mind, every airhead quip she can squeeze in translates into votes. We don’t care that you bought your shoes on sale, Kellie. You are not the first person to do that. Laura Ingalls you are not. Marilyn Monroe you are not!

OK, my last rant of the night: Bucky’s hair. Did he sit in curlers under the hair dryer all day or what?

I think Ace and Bucky have a good chance of leaving tomorrow.
