Chris Daughtry may not have heard the feed back he wanted from judge Simon Cowell on Wednesday night, but it’s the votes that count. On Thursday night, Daughtry made it into the top 12 on American Idol.
It’s a long way from Fluvanna County,VA where he grew up, but it’s another step closer to becoming the next winner of America’s most-watched television show. But he had to hear some tough criticism first.
“It is American Idol,” said Cowell to Daughtry after his performance Wednesday night. “You’ve got to be as broad as possible. I thought it was a boring song, and I think it’s one of those songs you won’t remember at the end of this show.”
But voters remembered the performance, and now it’s on to a new level in the competition.
“They will have a massive sound stage, they’re gonna have a huge studio audience, and an even bigger band, plus a whole team of stylists at their disposal,” explained host Ryan Seacrest on Thursday night’s show.
And don’t forget a contract. Finalists in the top 12 get the chance to perform in American Idol concerts even after this season ends in May. There are still twelve weeks to go in the competition, but one thing’s for sure. Viewers will see Daughtry next week.
