ALBEMARLE, N.C. – A few hundred Kellie Pickler fans turned out at the Stanly County Airport on Saturday to show their support of the “American Idol†contestant.
Organizers took a picture of the crowd in a formation that read “Pick Pickler†from the air. They plan to send the photo to the Stanly County native.
Fans old and young brought signs to cheer on their hometown favorite. Pickler graduated from North Stanly High School and was Miss Stanly County in 2004.

 Fans spelled out “Pick Pickler” on the runway. Â
Many members of Pickler’s family attended the event and sent their well-wishes to her in Los Angeles.
“The whole family is pulling for Kellie†said Jean Thompson, Pickler’s great aunt. “She’s a good girl and we are just really thankful that she’s our niece. We love her.â€
Pickler will perform again Tuesday and the results of the nation’s voting will be revealed Thursday night.
