The two bands Voted Off of Next Great American Band were The Hatch and The Likes Of You.
Sixwire performed the original song “Gotta Get Away” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.” John Rzeznik said “You guys have just been dominating everything that you’ve done.” Shelia E. said “You guys are just like a warm blanket, and I love the way that you cover me.” Dicko said “That original song was great.”
Tres Bien performed the original song “How I Feel” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “Love Lies Bleeding.” John Rzeznik said “You guys killed that Elton John song.” Shelia E. said “The original song was great.” Dicko said “You seem to be riding a great wave right now, but focus, focus, focus on your musicianship.”
Franklin Bridge performed the original song “Love’s Fool” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “Philadelphia Freedom.” John Rzeznik said “I wanted to hear the whole song because it was so good.” Shelia E. said “Your musicianship is incredible.” Dicko said “I said last week that you over arranged stuff, and certainly the second song I felt was over arranged.”
The Clark Brothers performed the original song “Country Time” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “Country Comfort.” John Rzeznik said “I liked the original, you guys that’s a really strong song.” Shelia E. said “Your vocals were incredible.” Dicko said “The original was great.”
Light Of Doom performed the original song “Light Of Doom” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting.” John Rzeznik said “You just peeled the paint off that song. It’s amazing.” Shelia E. said “You rock, congratulations.” Dicko said “I still think it’s all a bit weird.”
Dot Dot Dot performed the original song “Stay” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “Your Song.” John Rzeznik said “You guys really stepped it up this week.” Shelia E. said “It was good, but I was a little bit afraid.” Dicko said “It was a step up musically.”
Cliff Wagner & The Old No. 7 performed the original song “Little White Chapel” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “Honky Cat.” John Rzeznik said “To me you guys are the funnest band in this whole competition.” Shelia E. said “You guys are having fun, and it shows.” Dicko said “I for one had no idea that rednecks could be so much fun.”
The Muggs performed the original song “Should’ve Learned My Lesson” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues.” John Rzeznik said “Your original was amazing.” Shelia E. said “I think that you guys are an amazing rock back instrumentally, but vocally it’s very disappointing, because I need you to rise to the occasion.” Dicko said “It was tuneless rubbish.”
Rocket performed the original song “Future Ex-Boyfriend” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “Rocket Man.” John Rzeznik said “You guys have definitely won the audience over.” Shelia E. said “Those vocals are horrific. They’re awful.” Dicko said “You’re singing in the top of your throat. It’s time for you to get some vocal coaching.”
Denver & The Mile High Orchestra performed the original song “All Night” and Elton John & Bernie Taupin’s “I’m Still Standing.” John Rzeznik said “That was amazing.” Shelia E. said “It was fantastic.” Dicko said “Denver, where’s your red suit. I liked that. No, I’m joking.”
