The Next Great American Band Recap 11-9-07

For the 2nd episode of Next Great American Band on Friday November 9 again 2 bands were eliminated and the top eight bands performed a Billy Joel song in an attempt to gain your vote.

Franklin Bridge performed the Billy Joel song “Big Shot.” John Rzeznik said “Wow, that was amazing.” Shelia E. said “Everybody in the house was rocking. It was awesome.” Dicko said “You are fantastic musicians, and I can see why.”

Cliff Wagner & The Old No. 7 performed the Billy Joel song “You May Be Right.” John Rzeznik said “It was a really great version. I just expected you guys to you know pound it up a little bit harder.” Shelia E. said “You guys did a fantastic job tonight.” Dicko said “I suppose I should be thankful, because I did sleep with half the audience during that song.”

Denver & The Mile High Orchestra performed the Billy Joel song “Tell Her About It.” John Rzeznik said “That was really, really great.” Shelia E. said “You guys arrangements are so well done that the songs just flow and it makes it so joyful.” Dicko said “If you want to sell out arenas and have hit records, I think you are going to have to find something a little different, because it is a challenge recording-wise right now.”

Dot Dot Dot performed the Billy Joel song “Pressure.” John Rzeznik said “That was a really solid, great interpretation of that song.” Shelia E. said “I think you guys came back and really did something great.” Dicko said “That was a terrific performance tonight.”

Sixwire performed the Billy Joel song “She’s Always A Woman.” John Rzeznik said “That was a really solid performance.” Shelia E. said “That was beautiful, it was incredible, and you guys are always amazing.” Dicko said “You are the housewives’ choice.”

Tres Bien performed the Billy Joel song “Movin’ Out.” John Rzeznik said “To me it lacked a little bit of urgency.” Shelia E. said “I really, really like you guys as a band.” Dicko said “I love you too, but I thought that was a bit sloppy.”

The Clark Brothers performed the Billy Joel song “She’s Got A Way.” John Rzeznik said “That was the most confident performance of any of these songs that I’ve heard tonight.” Shelia E. said “You guys are outstanding.” Dicko said “Just fantastic, absolutely fantastic.”

Light of Doom performed the Billy Song “The Stranger.” John Rzeznik said “That was the best performance that you guys have had.” Shelia E. said “I really, really love you guys.” Dicko said “A lot of the older singers can learn a lot from you, you give a 100% commitment.”

The two bands eliminated from the competition were The Muggs and Rocket. When host Dominic Bowden asked Dicko if the bands talking back to him last week had anything to do with their elimination, Dicko said “No, I don’t think it’s got anything to do with it. Unfortunately, the common factor there is death by lead singer.”
